20 week u/x concerns...
I had my 20 wk US yesterday.
The doctor had 2 things to be concerned about and I am curious if this happened to anyone else. First of all, my placenta is low. She said I would need to go back in 2 mths to make sure it moves.
Then she said the baby has a birthmark o nits heart and that it increases our chances of Downs. Sh esaid over and over that I should not worry, but obviously that is easier said than done...

my placenta was also low, and it has moved. most of the time, it moves so don't worry about it! as for the other issue I don't really have any feedback. it may be best to speak w/ your doc and let them tell you exaclty what is going on

Re: 20 week u/x concerns...
Not sure about the placenta issue so I can't give you any advice there.
With the US, anything out of the ordinary can be a marker for down's syndrome. During my first pregnancy, they detected that my DD had clubbed feet and they told me that it was a marker for down's syndrome. They have to tell you that. However, I didn't do any further testing and she was born with clubbed feet that have since been repaired---no down's syndrome. I believe what they told me was that it doubles my chances. So at first chances were 1 out of 2,500 that she could have down's and the 20 week US results made it 1 out of 1,250.
I wouldn't panic but you could go with further testing if you want a more definite answer. I didn't b/c I knew it wouldn't change anything for us. I wasn't going to terminate no matter what so why go through all kinds of tests & get stressed out. We knew we would get a beautiful baby and that was that!
Hang in there!

The placenta issue is the same for me. I go back to the hospital in 4 weeks to make sure it has moved. As for the other, I don't know what to say. How did all your other prenatal testing come out? and to you
