Pacifier with attachment for newborn...??

I just ran into my friend who had her baby about a month ago and her son had a pacifier that had what looked like a small bean bag attached to it that layed on his chest. She looked at me like I've been living under a rock when I asked what it was.

Are you familiar with these??

Re: Pacifier with attachment for newborn...??

Was it this? A stuffed animal attached to the pacifier?

It is attached to the Soothie Pacifiers that IMO are the best!!! And it helps to keep it in his mouth. You can get it if you wantChat Icon They retire them and bring in new ones a lot sort of like Beanie BabiesChat Icon

I guess Im going to go against the grain here and say I think those things are a bit much. I mean Im not a fan of pacifiers to begin with, and these animal ones are just like face masks. Chat Icon So HUGE. it looks bigger than the baby. JMO.

Well it really helps if your baby is the type to always spit them out and flips out when it happensChat Icon This way it stays putChat Icon

once you have your baby, if you use a pacifier, youll be able to look past that. i cant tell you how many hours i sit up at night holding the pacifier in my DD mouth so that she falls asleep. actually, right now shes laying right next to me in bed so i can hold it in her mouth while im on the computer. sometimes i wish i could just tape it to her face lol i cant wait to get one of these, i hope it works!

Re: Pacifier with attachment for newborn...??

The NUKs stay in DS's mouth better. I would have preferred to use the Soothies because they are cleaner. Nothing gets trapped in them. After a while, my DS could not keep the Soothie in his mouth even though we used those for quite a while at the beginning. With NUKs, I never have to hold them in place. The Soothie is more like a real nipple, IMO, and better suited for BF babies. It's best to have a few types ready.

Can someone tell me exactly how these wubbanub things keep them in the mouth. If I could switch back to the Soothies I would. Also, if you use a Soothie with a wubbanub, I would think that it is easier in day care when they have to know whose is whose.

Re: Pacifier with attachment for newborn...??

I use the wubanub soothie - DD loves it, because its easier for her to hold onto (now that she's figured out how to use her hands) It does help in Daycare b/c no one else has one - in fact, most of the teachers have never seen one before - so everyone knows that Megan's toy is the purple frog with the pacifier - Otherwise, I've seen other babies holding Megans teethers when I visited (not happy about that at all)

Fair warning though- now that she is moving around a lot, sometimes it gets in her way and she accidientally pulls it out of her mouth, while her normal soothie would stay in, so we go back and forth over which soothie she has. I love them all!

I didn't get it until she was 3 months so I don't know how it would have worked for a newborn. Don't order it from Amazon - I waited over 2 weeks for it before I cancelled the order. I got mine on ebay.
