after a neuter.....

did your cat/dog wear a cone at all?

Our cat was neutered on Wednesday. He had the cone on when we picked him up, and they said to keep it on as long as we could. He was able to survive a day before driving us INSANE trying to take it off.

He was fighting with it, and going psycho. He has a hard time navigating how to drink and eat, and he got POOP on it Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon It was GROSS!!

I am concerned because he is licking a bit "down there" and I don't want anything to happen (infection wise)

Should I try to put the cone back on him or is it okay to keep it off, and just get him to stop licking when we see it.

TIA for opinions / advice

Re: after a neuter.....

Our dog Milo had to wear a cone. It was driviing him and us crazy. so when we were not home or able to closely supervise him he had to wear the cone. If we were just sitting around and we had him with us we took the cone off. He was also licking the "area" and it was getting a little red and bled a little bit. so they told us it was very important for him to either wear the cone or be supervised without the cone

Re: after a neuter.....

Our's didn't. They said he didn't need one unless he was bothering his stitches.
I think you should try to put it back on.
Talk to the vet and see what he/she thinks.

Re: after a neuter.....

Our was given a cone/e-collar, and they said he had to wear it for 10 days. It scared him, he is big and kept knocking things over. I took it off the same night and he was fine. He never bothered with his stitches.
