SO naughty................but SO loving it!!!
I know we're not suppose to eat cold cuts and I am the hugest cold cut fan!! I've held out this ENTIRE pregnancy but today at 34 weeks I broke down and right now I'm chowing down on a ham and swiss sandwich with a ton of mustard and pepper and LOVING it!!!!! So naughty I know BUT so good!!!!!

Yeah- not supposed to eat them-can cause listeria (the same thing soft cheeses cause)

Yeah- not supposed to eat them-can cause listeria (the same thing soft cheeses cause)
some doctors tell you to avoid cold cuts, or heat them before eating. mine never did, so i eat them, although i always make sure that i get my cold cuts from a reputable deli.

Some doctors will say to avoid them completely b.c of the risk of listeria. Others will tell you to heat them up before eating. Some doctors won't say anything about them. You need to do what you feel comfortable with.

Check with your MD......My midwife says cold cuts and soft cheeses are fine............ it depends on teh practitioner.
I've been eating them throughout my pregnancy and have had no problem......

Like everyone says.. it depends on your doctor.
My doc's opinion is simple "Don't get sick" so don't take any risks you would even if you weren't pregnant. Other than that.. all in moderation.
Im allowed cold cuts, sushi, tuna, rare meats, etc. *shrug*

I've still not had a cold cut at almost 33 weeks and I am really craving a turkey sandwich. But I figure, I've held out this long, I guess I can go another month and a half. I'll just indulge in other things.

my doc said i can have cold cuts once a week. he says everything in moderation just make sure the meat is from a reputable place and hasnt been sitting out all day.

Don't be upset with them.......Some Ob's are VERY strict on what they want their patients to eat and not eat.
Some not so much.
THe ONLY dietary restrictions my midwife gave me, and only because I asked was, she recommended, not insisted that I stay away from raw oysters and clams and limist my intake of dark meat fish like tuna, swordfish and makrel.
SO I can eat cold cuts, rare meats, soft cheeses, raw sushi and a lot of other things that some practitioners don't reccomend.
The US has the most strict views on food consumption during pregnancy as compared to other countries with significantly LOWER maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality rates!
Japaneese women eat sushi and women in france still eat soft cheeses and cured meats.
Don't panic about this, everythign in moderations an you will be fine!
