worried sick-UPDATE! 8/19/08
I am having a hard time holding it together. Yesterday I went to my RE for my 6 week sono. (Very early but procdure after IVF). I was 6 weeks exactly yesterday. As he was scanning me he was very quiet for some time and started asking me if I had any staining or bleeding. I said no, and my heart was beating out of my chest. Then he said "oh, there it is, but I don't see a fetus, well maybe i do". I only saw a sac with nothing in it. He said I have a tilted uterus at it may just be the angle but he thinks we are okay. He said let's do blood work and then another sono in a week. Obviously I was freaking out. My blood work came back god Beta 24,589. I just don't know what to think!!!!!! Wouldn't we have seen something if my beta was that high? Any reassurance? If not please  . 
UPDATE: 8/19/08
I am happy to say that we got great results today! We were able to see a heartbeat. I was so overwhelmed with relief it was not even funny. Thank you to all of you for thinking of me and for reassuring me. I am still cautious but I feel much better. Thanks again girls!

6 weeks is often too early to see much of anything, he should have told you that

I had a sono 2 days short of 6 weeks, and we just saw the sacs and could barely make out the yolk sac.
I went back at 6w4d and the dr showed us the yolk sac/fetal pole and heartbeats. Although if there hadn't been a heartbeat to be seen, I don't think I would have been able to make out the yolk sac or fetal pole.
My beta # was about the same as yours at 5w4d (which is when I had my first sono)

One of my babies did not show himself until about 6.5 weeks so I think you are OK.

I am so sorry you're so worried!  I agree with everyone else, it is still very early. You'd be surprised how much changes in only a few days! I will keep you in my thoughts!! FM if you want to talk.

My RE wouldn't even do a sono until 7 weeks. You are still early.

no updates from the doctor yet, we go back in for a sono on tuesday. My symptoms come and go. Breast tenderness has eased up a lot. Nausea comes and goes but fatigue is 24/7. Thanks for thinking of me!

I had an u/s at 5w4d and we just saw the fetal pole and sac. They made me then wait until 8 weeks, which was horrible and then we saw that little hb flickering away! Hang in there
