Gestational Diabetes and PCOS
I have PCOS and I was told that I am not insulin resistant.
My Questions:
Of those who have PCOS, how many of you have Gestational Diabetes?
How many of you suffer from PCOS but do not have Gestational Diabetes?
Are you insulin resistant or not?
Just wondering if there is a correlation between the two.
Also, a while ago, my blood was drawn and I was told that my sugar was slightly elevated. So, my gut is telling me that I will be one of the lucky ones with Gestational Diabetes.

I have PCOS and am insulin resistant. I failed the 1 hour but passed the three hour. I don't have GD. And I was positive I would get GD!

Re: Gestational Diabetes and PCOS
Today, I was drinking promegrane juice. I immediately got a massive headache. This has happened twice before and I couldn't help but wonder if I consuming too much sugar.
I haven't taken the 1hr/3hr tests yet.

I have PCOS, am not insulin resistant, and did not get GD (took 1HR Glucose Test at 18 weeks and again at 28 weeks, passed both times).

Re: Gestational Diabetes and PCOS
I was diagnosed with a VERY mild form of PCOS. Prior to getting my pregnant I was not insulin resistant and never had a problem with my glucose however, at week 27 I developed gestational diabetes and am now on insulin 4X/day. Looking forward to the baby's arrival in 6 weeks so the GD goes away and I go back to my normal self!!

Re: Gestational Diabetes and PCOS
This is a good question. I am not insulin resistant, and have never had an issue with glucose levels, but I do worry I will have GD.

I never, ever had a problem with my glucose levels either and then when I did that stupid 1 hr. test I failed with a score of 238!! I was shocked!! They didn't even bother with the 3 hr. Hopefully you will be fine, I'm sure you will but sometimes in pregnancy it happens. I'm use to it now although I am looking forward to having the baby and being done with the diabetes.

I'd better eat all my sweets now then, just in case!!
Were you taking metformin? I stopped taking it last week, I wonder if that was a mistake, although I have to say my tummy feels a whole lot better now!

I have PCOS.
I am also insulin resistant.
I failed my one hour but passed my 3 hour test.
I also thought that I would have definately had GD..but it just doesnt work out like that sometimes!
I was on Metformin before getting pregnant too.

Re: Gestational Diabetes and PCOS
I was on Metformin for about 3 months before getting pregnant to try and regulate my cycles. Once they saw the HB though at 6 1/2 weeks they had me stop taking it.

ITA this was me as well. I was on Met before getting pregnant and in the beginning of my pregnancy - I was lucky and did not get GD.

Re: Gestational Diabetes and PCOS
I have PCOS and am insulin-resistant. For this reason, my RE had me stay on the Met throughout my pregnancy to help reduce the risk of GD.
Now I'm wondering if that'll work...

Good question! I wish I saw this yesterday before my doctor appointment!
I'm going to ask her when I go back in 4 weeks.
