Pre-Maternity Wear?
The pants are getting tight, a little uncomfortable to sit in lately. Does it make sense to start purchasing maternity clothes? I'm only 15.5 weeks.
Do I start investing in clothes that are one size bigger?
Can anyone recommend a good store/site that has nice elastic waist pants or capris?
TIA!

Re: Pre-Maternity Wear?
I started buying clothes around 14 weeks, it was getting very uncomfy to sit down at my desk all day in my pre pregnancy pants. I found old navy and motherhood to have the best selection. I held off on buying maternity tops for a while since a lot of my tops I was able to squeeze into up until now, I can't get away with much of my prepregnancy clothes for work.

At 14 wks enough was enough and I started wearing maternity clothes. At 17.5 weeks, I'm so comfortable. Just do it

Re: Pre-Maternity Wear?
I'm 14 weeks now and bought some maternity pants for work last week. I just was no longer comfortable in my work pants. Even sizes one size up were just uncomfortable.

I'm 15.5 weeks and starting to purchase maternity pants with the small band - Gap had some on sale - I got 2 pairs for 11 bux each!

Re: Pre-Maternity Wear?
I don't wear pants-- lots of skirts and dresses. Oh, and leggings are amazing.
I also wear cords a lot instead of jeans-- and they all have a stretch-- some pairs are holding out better than others.
I don't have a belly yet-- but, I do get bloated throughout the day. And my *** and thighs are growing..

Re: Pre-Maternity Wear?
I went straight for maternity pants... they were loose for a while, but I thought there was no sense (and too much $$$) to buy a series of increasingly larger clothing. Also, since I got pregnant in january, I initially invested in jeans and chino pants (sort of seasonless) and then bought most clothes once the summer arrived, since I'm due in sept.
In the beginning, instead of buying pants with a panel, you can get pants that have a 'natural waist' with an elastic waist band. those fit much better in the 2nd trimester than the full panel pants... but I'm finding some don't fit well in the 3rd trimester
scour the clearance racks for clothes that will be good for fall/winter... you'll get some good bargains!

Re: Pre-Maternity Wear?
I've been wearing only maternity pants for about a month now (I'm 17.5 weeks). They are just more comfortable, it wasn't worth struggling with my regular pants which I couldn't button anymore at 14 wks.

Re: Pre-Maternity Wear?
I was in maternity pants by then. I don't think it's too early to wear them. I don't think it's worth it to buy pants 1 size bigger since you may not get much use out of them.

Re: Pre-Maternity Wear?
I have been getting away with wearing the biggest items of clothing i own. My skirts still fit.
My friends & family have also been generous enough to lend/give me some of there clothes until I am ready for Maternity.
I am honestly hoping I can get away with leggings and big tops for a very long time!

Re: Pre-Maternity Wear?
How about getting a bella band (or belly band)? It is supposed to be good to wear with your unzipped pre-pregnancy pants. It is a stretchy material that you place over the top of your pants.

Re: Pre-Maternity Wear?
I swear by Lands End yoga pants. They fit me great when I was just squeezing out of my pants, and even now at nearly 39 weeks, I can wear them comfortably. I am usually a size 8 (Medium), so I purchased a size Large. They never hung off my body, and because the fabric is so high-quality, they retain their shape beautifully.

This worked for me when I was very bloated in the first trimester, but didn't feel comfortable buying maternity clothes yet. Maternity pants, especially the Secret Fit Belly pants, are so much more comfortable than the Bella Band though.

Just do it! You're going to be so happy that you did. Maternity pants are so comfortable. You've got lots of aches and pains waiting for you. Why torture yourself when you don't have too?

Re: Pre-Maternity Wear?
Motherhood maternity has great clothes as well as Old Navy. Get the bella band. It's great to wear when you're in between regular clothes and maternity clothes.
