Drinking water...
I was drinking lots of water in the beginning of my pregnancy, but now at 24 weeks I'm not drinking that much.
Is anyone else not getting as much water as they should? Do you think it's really that bad not to have enough?

Re: Drinking water...
I've been REALLY bad about drinking water. But I drink a ton of milk, probably about 8 glasses a day, so I doubt I'm dehydrated.
I think as long as you're getting fluids from somewhere, you're ok.

Re: Drinking water...
Wow, 8 glasses of milk per day!!! I am lucky if I can suck ONE down!!!
I don't drink a lot either. Maybe a bottle or two of H20 throughout the day.

Re: Drinking water...
ok, I'll preface this by saying you can nickname me fish......
at any rate, I have noticed that most of my pregnancy woes can be somewhat alevieated by drinking much more water than I want......
Prior to pregnancy, I was good.. I drank about 2.5 liters a day. TMI alert: My pee was a pale yellow so I knew I was properly hydrated.
Got pregnant... initially upped it to 3.5 L a day. Pee was always a med yellow (just a tad too dark IMO). I had periodic headaches in the first trimester and upped it to 4L. Headaches disappeared.
2nd trimester, I got backaches and body aches... I had a tiny bit of swelling. Increased it to 4.5L a day, and symptoms disappeared again! Pee still medium yellow.
3rd trimester.... SWELLING! ACHES! FATIGUE! I FINALLY increased water intake to over 5L a day... totally I know... not to mention difficult to maintain. When I did that, FINALLY my pee is pale yellow, the swelling decreased, and most of my aches and fatigue subsided.... (they only returned when I had an upset stomach this weekend and was unable to drink my 5 L/day for a few days...)
notice a trend?
I say if you feel like junk, force feed yourself more water and see what happens... you may be pleasantly surprised.....

oh, and to answer this question:
Take it with a grain of salt becuase I've only read this in articles and on an LIF thread or two: dehydration, if severe enough, can induce pre-term labor....
that's scary enough for me to keep force feeding myself the water......

Re: Drinking water...
my doctor is a big advocate of me drinking water, he said to maintain 64 ounces a day, I bought one of those large containers so I can monitor how much I drink....As long as you are drinking some type of fluids you will be okay...Your urine should not be yellow it should be light in color to make sure you are getting enough

Re: Drinking water...
When I first found out I was PG, I drank a ton of water. As soon as M/S started, it got harder and harder to drink water. It makes me so nauseous. I try my hardest, but I don't drink nearly enough.

Re: Drinking water...
I try to maintain it - it's so hard.
As for those who mentioned the yellow urine - no matter how much I drink mine still has a yellowish tinge since being pregnant. Doc says its from my prenatal.

Re: Drinking water...
i am just over 24 weeks at my visit last week I was told that i was well hydrated and I am usually not. I drink about 4-5 16oz bottles a day 3-4 8oz glass of milk and 2 12oz cans of soda everyday althought the water is a little blah I sometimes substute it with tea (yes dcaf tea counts as water) or I will add 4c power drinks that are made with splenda that also counts...

Re: Drinking water...
Prepregnancy, I drank anywhere between 1-3 liters of water a day. I don't drink soda or coffee. When I was really sick during my first trimester, I drank about 1 liter a day. Now, I drink between 2-4 liters a day. I honestly feel so much better when I drink more water. Yes, peeing so frequently is annoying but I physically feel better.

Re: Drinking water...
I'm not good at drinking water- the more I drink, the more I pee, and that drives me CRAZY! I drink all day, but not 64 oz or anything.

Re: Drinking water...
I try to drink as much as I can. I've added a little lemon to it or added a tiny little bit of crystal light wild strawberry to give it some taste. My doctor said that is all fine for me to do. It does help making drinking all that water tolerable.

I am horrible at drinking water. Every time I go to the OB he tells me I have to drink more... my pee is so dark. I drink maybe 2 bottles per day.

Re: Drinking water...
I'm only in my 5th week but so far I am being good. - I just sit w/ the straw in front of my face at my desk
I HATE drinking this much though, so we'll see how long I last with my new found 'healthy' plan
