pediatrician question
after the baby is born, is it your own pediatrician that comes to see the baby, or a pediatrician in the hospital?

Our own pediatrician came to see DD. We told the hospital what ped we were using and they called them when she was born.
ETA: I delivered at Stony Brook and use Mid-Suffolk Pediatrics.

As long as your pediatrician has privileges at the hospital you're delivering at they will come to check on the baby otherwise a pediatrician on staff will check the baby.

my pediatrician said he will see the baby as soon as she is born as long as she is not in the NICU he cant see her there but can check up on her cant treat her

my Gyno asked me a few weeks before I had the baby who i had chosen for my ped. She came the next day after DD was born

As a pp said, it depends on whether the dr has privilages at that hospital. I delivered at St Catherines where my Drs are staff peds. So the 3 days we were there are different dr from my practice saw him each day.
My friend delivered at Huntington, she has the same peds as I do, however they are not on staff there. So a staff ped saw him for hte time he was in the hospital and then a week after he came home he went to his regular ped for the first time
ETA: In my admitting paperwork, they asked me what ped I was using, and said they will contact them after the baby was born to let them know they have a new baby in the hospital to see.
