Beaches/waterfront locations...
DH and I would like to take Yogi to the beach where he can be taken off the leash and run around. We have heard that Smithpoint now requires that all dogs remain on the leash. We live in Mid-Suffolk and we don't want to drive too far. Any suggestions?

Gardiner's Park in West Islip or Bay Shore - not sure which it is technically.
You can walk all the way down to the bay and let your dog off leash - although of course you can get ticketed if cops decide to go back there and ticket, but they usually don't. We've never had a problem down by the water, though people that stay up front in the park have.

I think you can take your dog on the bay side over by the RM lighthouse/field 5. During the winter you can take your dog on the ocean side.
