Costs of IVF
I'll admitt that the biggest reason we considered less aggressive treatments was bc of the insane costs of IVF. Even with the risk of another ectopic PG I still was willing to try.
We are now moving to IVF. We do have some medical coverage for IVF ($3000 per person, lifetime) but it's not great. I have coverage for some meds but not many. They didn't cover my Clomid or Follistim so I'm not expecting much coverage here.
For one cycle, what can I expect to roughly pay for everything? I have our financial consult on Saturday but I wouldn't mind seeing what I'm in for AND to see if my medical facility is costlier than others.
any help is appreciated!! TIA

Re: Costs of IVF
Is your RE part of your insurance plan? That will play a huge factor into how much out of pocket your cycle will cost. The medication alone, will run you about 2-3000. Usually the small meds like the estrogen and progesterone are covered so you'll only pay a co-payment on those. Of course, the big stuff is the follistim and if that's not covered, it will be a lot depending on your protocol.
If your RE is part of your insurance plan, that $3,000 will go a lot further than you think. For my past cycle, all of my monitoring and bloodwork was not billed towards my IVF cap. They code it as something else! The only money that was billed towards my IVF cap was the actual retrieval and transfer. For that, since my RE is part of my plan, they billed the insurance over $11,000 for my cycle but my insurance only paid $3,000! Therefore, only the $3,000 counts towards my IVF cap and I'm not responsible for the difference. My RE accepts what my insurance pays.

Re: Costs of IVF
So i have no coverage for IVf including meds. here were the 3 options i received
1.self Pay for one fresh cycle is about $15k then 3-5k for meds, then a frozen cycle is 2.8K plus minimal meds
2. if your doctor participates with the NYS grant (we weren't eligible). From what i understand the fee schedule depends on your salary.
3. A Shared risk program. where you pay a lump sum for 3 fresh 3 fozen cycles. Then the cost of meds. We figured it would cost about $30k for the lump sum, the facility and meds.
So personally since i'm 32 and i have unexplained IF i was advise by a doctor friend that since the ost sharing is usually only offered to those who most likely will get pregnant in 2 cycles so you wind up spending more money.
We decided to do self pay and we're praying it takes us 2 cycles
I hope you find a way

Re: Costs of IVF
My IVF/ICSI cycle with storage cost around $12,500 for everything. I was lucky enough to get donated meds that my RE's office got back from prior patients so I didn't have to pay for any of that. Prices definately vary depending on where you go. My RE claimed to be competitive, although I didn't shop around too much!!

Re: Costs of IVF
My IVF cycle was 7K.
And it was successful.
It was the third clinic I went to, and IMO the best, at least for me.

Re: Costs of IVF
Thanks for all of your input ladies!
Going through my files my "clinic" is 9K for most of what is needed. They supplied a list of extras that may or may not be needed that are not included in the plan. My guess is that when all is said and done the whole process should cost about 15K including meds.
Fortunately we do have some coverage and my clinic is very willing to "code" things in our favor.
