I just need to vent (insurance/pre-auth)

I hope my cycle is not going to be like this going forward.

Uggg....and its not the insurance company. Its the radiology lab at good sam. Saying my HSG is not approved and we didn't received your beta results. Telling me I may have to cancel. I call up Oxford. Get someone who is really great on the phone. Tells me it is authorized. I call Good Sam, no its not. I call my Dr's nurse. It is authorized. I call back oxford, i have the authorization number..... ***! Now Good Sam radiology is not answering their phone. Probably better, I have a bad temper and can be very mean.

OH and my stupid part. If Good Sam bills this as ambulatory (from the facility) its a $250 co-pay, if they bill as out of office its only $30. I called my insurance before I decided to go with them, never asked about the co-pay. If i went with my RE, who is out of network, I'd only have to pay 30% which I calculate at $195. Oh well, I'm screwing up already.

can you still go to Cornell? I spoke to Davis about this and I think he's the man for the job.

OK, I think venting really makes a difference. When called back 2 seconds ago, I was much nicer and the guy on phone said in a cheery voice "don't worry I have everything now we are all set for Thursday" and I asked how they bill and its only a $30 co-pay.

whew.....

Though still I think the moral of my story is to always follow up before you get there. You can make it all happen. Withing 1 hour I got everything set to go. Had I not called I probably would have been canceled. Now I hope I just remember that myself.

Susan - I would have gone with Davis but he can only do it Friday and I was set to watch my baby niece. Plus, I didn't want to deal with the Jitney on Friday afternoon on a Hampton weekend. I know that sounds snooty about the Jitney, but the trains don't run hourly out where I live and the Jitney is nice and runs by the hour. Plus I buy discount coupons in the winter and it only ends up costing me $2 more each way than the train and I don't have to switch trains or make a zillion stops.
