Anyone take Percocet while pregnant?
I hurt my back Saturday, really bad. I have done all I could to not take anything but I went to the doctor today in tears and he gave me Percocet. I just took one now to hopefully get some sleep and I feel so guilty. All the literature I read at work was so ambiguous. Uggh!! I checked with my midwives and they said it's fine for a short time but I still feel so guilty drugging my baby. I almost never take medication but this pain is so severe I can barely walk or move. I feel stuck between a rock and a hard place.

I never took it pregnant but I did take it while breast feeding. If your dr prescribed it and knows your pregnant I would say its fine. Hope you feel better!

Re: Anyone take Percocet while pregnant?
I am pretty much in the same boat--I have had SUCH severe sciatica due to a ruptured disc in my back. It's typical that I get about 4 hours of sleep nowadays, and that's not even uninterrupted. I'm going out of my mind, because I am normally an 8+ hour sleeper, and the fact that the pain is so excruciating in the morning makes me not even want to get into bed at night.
My OB is considering prescribing Vicodin so that I can sleep again. I am completely on the fence about it--this pain is so severe and I would literally pay ANYTHING to be able to sleep comfortably at this point, but I'm also feeling the same way you are--guilty as all hell for drugging the baby. I have no idea what the right thing to do is--but as my OB said, it's sometimes worth the small risk in order to see the benefit.
I always swore I would NEVER take any heavy medications while pregnant--but I never thought I'd be dealing with pain this unbearable.

Re: Anyone take Percocet while pregnant?
I was put on Tylenol with codeine to treat pain with my last pregnancy. Believe it or not, most pain relievers prescribed during pg are filtered pretty well through the placenta.
My OB told me that the stress we feel from the pain, and the toxins that releases (as well as lack of proper rest) is worse for the baby than the actual pain killers themselves. That helped me to feel better about taking them.

I took it really early on after oral surgery when I didn't know I was pregnant. DD is fine.

I took it last night and it didn't touch the pain. OMG I have no idea what I did to my back, this is awful. I was up most of the night.
