does anyone have..

ok first i'm fairly new to the boards. My name is Ashley, I'm 23 years old and getting married next year. And no..i'm not actively ttc right now but i'll give you some backstory and then ask my question. Last April I found out I was pregnant.. but then my sono's weren't going well and they weren't finding a heartbeat and I ended up getting a D&C at 8w 6d. What the doctors found tho, is what they think to be a uterine septum. Basically my uterus isn't shaped right and if the baby doesn't implant in a "good" spot i will most likely miscary. ( That was the reason why the baby never developed..there's no blood flow on the septum) My doctor said that i can have surgery done to remove the septum but says because i'm so young, he doesn't want to until i keep having failed pregnancies ( like i really want to go through a miscarriage more than once) My question is....Does anyone else have this problem and what did you do? Did you have the surgery? Where you able to concieve without it and have a successful pregnancy? I'm just worried b/c yes.. i'm young..but by the time me and FH want to have kids, I don't want this to be a factor then. I want it dealt with now so when we're ready the septum won't be an issue anymore. Any advice???

I have a weird shaped uterus, so whenever its a uterus questions I get interested. I have a t-shaped uterus. It can't be fixed. It could/ or could not be a problem for me. They wont know until my body reacts. It seems like what you have can be fixed. Which is good. And from my limited research, it seems like they say like you said, that depending where the emby implants will depend on weather its a problem or not.

I think I would get a second opinion.

They can fix it with lap surgery. I had one last year to take a look at my Uterus. Recovery is pretty quick.

I have read a lot of stories of women who have had this and had it fixed. I'm on another board and they have a specific area for this, but you have to pay for access to the site, but it might be worth it. It's called FertilityFriend.com.

Good luck.

I'm actually on fertilityfriend haha but i don't pay for it. I was using it to track my cycles so i can see how my cycles are b/c i tend to be irregular. I hate doing internet research, it seriously makes me feel even worse because you see all the bad stories and situations. It's like i'm aware that my rate of miscarriage is extrememly high, but i don't want to be reminded of it on every page i try to look up info.

You actually have to pay to get onto FF's message boards. You cannot access with a free membership. I found a whole board with women just like you and you can ask them questions etc... I noticed some had the surgery and others didn't.

I know my uterus problem is probably due to a drug called DES (which they gave to woman from 1940-1971 to prevent m/c, but all it really did was cause problems in daughters and other horrible stuff that begins with the letter "c". I don't want to even say it). I stupidly did research and it was all very bad and I was crying hysterical. I don't look it up anymore and now I just pray this is not my problem.

Good luck!

PS-if you do get on FF I can tell you where this board is, it was hard to find.

i prob wont start a paying membership until we get closer to figuring out what we want to do b/c right now it seems silly when i'm not even temping..im just keeping track of CM and stuff. I heard about that drug..but obviously that wasn't the cause for me-and believe me..i even asked my mom. Ive heard horrible stuff as well but looking stuff up is seriously horrible b/c for some reason you only find the negative things which does not make anything any easier. I just feel like i'm the only person out there with this problem sometimes. And funny thing is..if i didn't get pregnant i would have never known i had this problem. It's not like they just test you to see if your uterus is weird.

I know I had the same thing. Had I not had a M/C last year, I would never have known about my uterus. I'm 40, can you imagine going that long without knowing something is wrong. And my poor Mom, who worried all this time whether it was safe or not. She figured at this point it was all good. I try not to talk about it, b/c if someone gave me shot to not have a m/c you know I would be the first on line.

OK the only thing I can say is, maybe there is a website out there (and I think i may have found one once) that has a board you can talk to people about it on. I know PCOS has a board. I will post the question for you and see what they say. I'll be back.

Re: does anyone have..

I have a slightly bicornuate, or heart-shaped uterus. Sometimes it's difficult to tell the difference between this and a septate uterus. My RE didn't think I had a septum, but couldn't rule it out completely without a laparoscopy. I just had the surgery last week and am fully recovered. She said that if she did find a septum they would remove it during the procedure and it didn't seem like it was a big deal.

Yahoo groups has a message board for all different types of mullerian anomalies.

thanks so much for the help ladies! It's finally nice to have people to talk to who understand that sometimes it's not that easy to just get pregnant and it be perfect.
