when did your braxton hicks start?
just curious... I haven't experienced it yet (I'm 31 weeks)... but I suspect they're just over the horizon........

Mine started at 28 weeks, although I didn't notice them until I went to the hospital and they told me I was having them

huh.... maybe I AM having them occassionally and not noticing yet, becuase they're still rather mild?
I never knew you could have them and not notice.... I thought they were always attention getting and rather painful.

They are not usually painful at all. Sometimes my belly just feels tight or a bit strange for a second, but if I shift positions it goes away.

Well for me it feels like my belly gets rock hard. Before they told me it was contractions I just had thought it was the baby moving. Now I know what to look for. They really aren't painful at all.

At about 30 weeks. They don't hurt at all. It just feels like my uterus is scrunching up and then my belly feels real hard for a minute or two.

They may have started before then, but they were actually detected when I was in LDR at 35+ weeks.

thanks everyone! now I know to look for a temporary hardening of the belly.... wonder if they're already going on in there!
I'm VERY relieved to hear that they're not often a debilitating pain....

totally agree with this thought...
I thought they were killers too
I wonder.. every now and then.. like once a week or more.. my whole belly jumps and feels a quick kick if that makes sense... I always thought it was the baby moving really really fast and hard..
It doesnt really 'hurt' but its pretty sudden and very noticable... could this be BH?

I got them around 16 weeks and they lasted throughout my pregnancy. They didn't hurt, but were uncomfortable.
