Have you and your SO....
banned any topics of conversation from your relationship??? 
There are a few things that we just can't talk about because we'll start to argue and end up going round in circles for hours. So we've agreed to disagree and are not allowed to talk about it.
Like, carpets in bathrooms...I think it's unsanitary, he disagrees. Then we fight about it!

His brother, his mother and our taxes.
His brother infuriates me and I know it hurts him that we can't get along. I'm civil in family situations, but I don't seek him out.
And his mother does our taxes and she royaly screwed mine up last year and didn't "have the time" to fix it for 8 months. So this year I'm thinking about going elsewhere and he is upset about that. So we've not spoken about it yet, but it's coming!!!

I don't mind any conversation. He on the other hand has numerous topics he considers fight starters.
1 - all mention of any ex boyfriend I've ever dated. He prefers the illusion that he married an angel.
He was talking about putting bars on Maddie's windows for when she's a teenager. I made a comment that I hope she has as good of a time dating as I had. His reply was "Over my dead body will she have half of the time you had while dating"
2. the discussion that I wouldn't leave my building on 9/11 (at 8mos pg) when he felt it was a target has also been banned.
3. Light switches & fixtures. I hate the expression "the shoemakers children don't have shoes" because as electrician's familes don't have switchplates or light fixtures but opt for wires sticking out of ceilings while he puts electricity in the attic...sigh..
eta. You're completely right about the carpets in the bathroom. Get that 20/20 report on how far urine particles spread after a flush. That will solve it. I may not be able to bring up some topics, but man can I pile up ammunition for when it does happen.

for #3!!! My dad is an electrical engineer and for some reason he has an extension cord running out of the house, across the driveway and into the detached garage...
And about the carpet thing...it's VERY old school England to have the carpet in the bathroom. He actually wouldnt' ever put a carpet in a bathroom if he had the choice, I guess he's just offended that I'm so skeeved by it...just one of our patriotic skirmishes!

Yes, we have a few.
1. How lazy my younger brothers are. He says they are spoiled and I end up sticking up for them.
2. Tardiness-- He thinks it is no big deal and I think that it sends a bad message. He is late for work every single day and I can't say anything because I know we will argue about it. I hate tardiness!!!
3. Heineken or Sam Adams--he's a Heineken man and I'm a Sam Adams woman...argument every time.
4. CSI--we can't agree which is better, CSI:NY or regular CSI, so we can't talk about that.
We both agree, however, NO BATHROOM CARPET!

We have some:
1. Why I go to confession.
2. Should bilingual employees be able to speak spanish in the kitchen at work if manager only speaks English.
3. Once we rented a van at Disney, it was my a family and Leo. I have 6 younger brothers and sisters. We only had enough seatbelts for 5 of the kids. Me, Leo and my brother sat without due to my mother's request. I was 17 at the time, and had no problem with it. Leo was livid. We are all my mother's children, how come other lives are valued more...this goes on and on..
4. Leo's sister. He is past the point of defending her, now he is just tired of discussing her as well.

do you mean the little carpet around the base of the toilet and the matching one that goes by the sink or when the whole bathroom is carpeted?

That is a vomitous thing for me!!! I even hate having a rug in the bathroom. Just a towl to step on is fine but DH looooves his bath rug!
