Leg Cramp
I woke up at 5 am with the most intense cramp in my calf. I stretched it and got up to walk around so the spasm would ease up. My leg is still sore this morning. Should I be concerned????

Re: Leg Cramp
Nope. Many ladies experience them. It could be that you need more potassium [eat bananas] and/or more water. Feel better!!

Re: Leg Cramp
Nope they are completely normal....I used to get them from stretching in my sleep. I'd point my toes while stretching and that would bring them on. If I immediately stopped pointing my toes and instead stretched the other way I could ward them off a bit....
I didnt find that potassium helped at all..they went away after I had the baby.

Re: Leg Cramp
If you feel them coming on, try stretching by pushing your leg straight and pushing your heal out. I do this every time and haven't gotten a cramp yet.

Re: Leg Cramp
yep this is very normal
Lots of topics on this have been posted
I try eating bananas (for the potassium), lots of water, and stretching them out before I sleep.
It helps me..
I also know when I get them I just sit up in bed and put my foot flat on the floor and press down while I massage it out... that helps too...
ETA : I dont eat the banana or drink the lots of water before BED that is (or id be up for a different reason! )

Re: Leg Cramp
Nope. Very common in pregnancy. A few weeks ago I went through a 3 week period where every night I felt like my calf was going to cramp and I always caught it in time. One morning I didn't and my muscle spasmed and it was awful!! Insane pain!! But all the books and websites say it's normal especially in the 3rd trimester. Feel better.

Re: Leg Cramp
Very common. I have been getting them since around 16 weeks and still have them fairly often at 26 weeks.
I have found that drinking some Gatorade before bed helps. I have also been eating fruit with a lot of potassium like prunes, raisins, etc (in lieu of bananas because I don't like them), and have been drinking lots of water.
