grossness

Ollie eats her poop which is gross but at least I can put something in her food so she doesn't do it. However, I live on a very busy street where people do not curb their dogs and she eats other dogs poop as well! I'm very careful but she finds pieces I don't see and when I go to find what she's chewing on and reach my hands in her mouth, well you get the picture. I don't think there is anything I can do about this but do you think is something she will grow out of? She's just shy of 5 months.

I don't know if they grow out of it... My old dog did the same thing but I will say he did seem to stop as he got older.

I wonder if you put a little tobasco sauce in her poop she'll get the idea that all poop smells/tastes Chat Icon like that?

I really don't konw...

thanks for your input, I really appreciate it. I heard crushed pineapple and a few people have said that worked so I'm definitely going to try it. I'm just nervous about the outside poop, who knows if these dogs carry diseases or things like that? Thanks again!

Oh I agree! I would say just do your best to keep her away from other pooches poop and hopefully she'll grow out of it.

Good luck!! Chat Icon

Oh Jess... you're not alone... Cooper was a poop eater and I'm happy to say they grow out of it!

When you walk her, if you can, make sure she's not sniffing along the ground, that might help her avoid those little other doggie doo-doo that you miss... I notice that when I walk Cooper on a harness as oppossed to a leash, his head is up not sniffing around as much.

Good luck!

Been there!!!!

I have used Tobasco and it worked the first few times and then I came to realize my puppy loves hot sauce. I started giving her a chewable pill I got at PetSmart and that seemed to do the trick. I am sure if I am not paying attention and she has enough time, she would still go for it. But lately, I have been testing her and when she goes, I wait a little while and now she just walks away from it THANK GOD!!! Chat Icon

thanks, I'm really glad it's not just her! I'm going to look for the pill you're talking about. We tried a powder enzyme from the vet and it didn't do anything
