Re: hsg test
DH came with me to the test. A lot of people had some pain, but many didn't have much. I had one quick, sharp pain and that was it. It may also depend on whether your tubes are blocked or not. My tubes were not blocked but I think sometimes folks who have blocked tubes could possibly experience more pain.
Take some Advil 30 minutes before the procedure.
Lots of luck!

Re: hsg test
I had no pain (and I'd be the first to let anyone know if it was painful!) I had some AF like cramping as the dye was being put through, but it ended as soon as the dr. was done. I had some on and off cramping the remainder of the day.
However, with that said, everyone experiences are different.

Re: hsg test
I took 3 advil about 45 minutes before the HSG and then I was in pain during the hsg test. I had some cramping afterwards but not as bad as during. The procedure itself was pretty quick! Definitely take something before the hsg because it cuts the edge a little bit. DH couldn't take me the day I had mine done so I had my mother drive me there and back. I was actually glad that I didn't have to drive myself. GL!! I hope everything works out for you tomorrow!

Re: hsg test
i drove myself there and went back to work after. I took two advil while waiting in the waiting room (I had forgotten to take them earlier). I didn't think it was painful...definitely no worse than an IUI...a little cramping after.
But, everyone reacts differently and has a different pain tolerance.

Re: hsg test
For me, it was not that bad but then again I have a high tolerance for pain. If it is painful, it will only be for 10 minutes at most and its more discomfort rather than pain. Just remember to take advil 45 mins prior.

Re: hsg test
I went by myself, I took 4 Advil a few hours before and I had a long wait. My HSG hurt like hell. I amnot sure, but maybe that is because I have a blocked tube. But it was very paiunful, and the pain was notlike period cramps, it was sharp pain. But, it lasted a VERY short time, 3-5 minutes and it was not constant. If I HAD to do it again, Id pop more Advil closer to my test time. I was fine immediately after, drove home and went to work.

I went by myself and went back to work afterwards. I had sharp pain for about 2 minutes but once it was over I was fine. G/L

Re: hsg test
I had a lot of pain to the point that I broke out into a sweat and felt like I was going to be sick. The upside is that it is a really quick test. For me, the pain was gone as soon as the test was over. Everyone has different reactions. My RE said the level of pain experienced depends on how sensitive a woman's nerve endings are.
I would have someone come with me (even if it's just for support) and definitely take some advil or aleve.
