grrrr preggo brain and our apt elevator
so I'm forgetful..... I'm CERTAIN it's becuase in the 3rd trimester there's so much organization, dr appts, and paperwork........
at any rate, I just finished registering for the cpr class for mom, DH and I, and was talking on the phone with mom when I went into our building's elevator to go to our apt.....
I completely forgot the #$%#$ thing keeps getting stuck these days (I've called the super 6 weeks ago, and on monday complaining about it and telling him about people getting stuck. Usually, people get it moving again by jumping up and down very hard....) Of course I got stuck in the elevator. I should add that since every apt has seperate central air, the common spaces (hall/elevator) are NOT airconditioned. it was over 100 degrees in there. And I shouldn't be jumping hard, so there wasn't anything I could do.
I called up the landlord and he said well, we can try to get it going by cutting and restoring power to the elevator, but if that doesn't work, it will be at least a couple hours until I can get the elevator repair company (the same incompetent boobs who supposedly 'fixed' this elevator 2 other times in the last couple months) can arrive.
mercifully, rebooting the elevator worked. I was only in there about 15 min (but already lost several pints of fluids due to the heat)
moral: don't let your preggo brain run on autopilot too much, you may get in trouble

That is horrible. I would make a huge stink! The super needs to get that elevator working! I'm glad you got out sooner though! I think you deserve a big bowl of ice cream for your ordeal

Re: grrrr preggo brain and our apt elevator
I wish.... gestational diabetes
I will say it's the first time I actually felt scared that a situation might compromise my health (due to the high temps and possibility of being in there for 2+ hours w/o water). Even when I tripped and had a minor fall in london (on my knee.. belly was never tapped) I didn't get scared.
When I finally got free, I stumbled upstairs and drank several glasses of cold water and just sat there until DH came home. Minor case of shock....
I think my landlord is now getting the point that he can't be so lax about the elevator... at least I hope.
