Rescue dog bait and switch-long!

Hi guys. Last week I posted about bringing another chihuahua into our house. We finally decided to go for it, but we wanted to rescue one. So I find one at Southampton shelter, call the next day, and she's going home (sad but happy she found a home!). I keep checking petfinder.com and I find a puppy that's like 3 hours away. I email the lady, she tells me the adoption fee is $400 and the dog (1.5 years) still isn't spayed. Ok, whatever, I fall in love with the dog (of course) and send the woman her application. She tells me I can come see the dog but she has another dog I can adopt also. Ok, why would I want another when I already told her who I was interested in. Today I email her and ask her if I can come pick up the dog 8/8? She says yes, needs to speak with my vet. I say ok can I have your vet so I can check her out blah, blah, blah. Emails me back. The dog you want may not be available and sends me a link for another dog. I write back I though you said you would hold her til 8/8...she writes back "I cannot say". That's it! W t f??? So sad, I feel discourged that I cannot find a chihuahua to rescue... Thanks for reading

Thank you so much for the link...I am hysterical crying reading the stories of these poor creatures and wishing I could take them all. I just don't understand how people can be so cruel to these defenseless animals...thanks again for the link!
