When do you think they'll put me on the schedule?
My RE's practice is fairly small so I know it's not a question of fitting me in, because they don't do that many IVF's.
But, I'm going away to Rome and Israel Sept. 25-Oct. 9. I know they have to do some pre-testing right? I'm about 2 days away from ovulating for this last medicated cycle. So when would they begin IVF testing?
And when would I likely get on the schedule? I'm assuming not until I get back from Israel, sometime in October?

If this medicated cycle isn't successful (hoping it is), then I don't think you'd get an ivf cycle in before the end of sept. You'd have to have to start at beginning of your next cycle with all the testing. It depends on the testing they want to do, but I wouldn't stress and try to get it all done so fast. Most of the testing has to be done from days 6-10 of your cycle, so you'd be limited on how many days you have available to make appointments, etc.
Good luck!

I do not want to butt in here but you may want to do a couple of consults with other clinics if yours doesn't do a lot of IVF's. One of the most important things is the embryologist. Do you know who they're using? Sometimes they will piggyback onto another clinic and use their team. Also what about being up on the latest research? Do they have SART statistics? You may even be able to be monitored by your Dr and do transfer and retrieval in NY possibly at a large clinic. Or NJ. I know when I was self pay I wanted the BEST chance possible to get PG. Best of luck and

I agree with Melissa.
Beth - I know you are in the Philly area. Check with RMAofNJ - you might be able to monitor somewhere close to home, and do the IVF procedure itself at RMA. I have been with RMAofNJ since last October, and I know a few of the ladies here have and still go there. I have had nothing but a positive experience with them and all of their doctors are just top notch. I thought I read they were actually opening a satelite office in Allentown, PA. You would have to do the retrieval and transfer themselves in their main office in Morristown though. It's definately worth checking out. I do know there is another RE practice (the name escapes me right now) that is down near the Lambertville, NJ area.

I've done the research... the clinic I'm at is one of the smaller ones in the area, doing only about 30-40 IVF's a year, but they use an IVF center that ALL the fertility clinics utilize in our area, which is located in a hospital about 15 miles away. It's a state of the art center which gets rave reviews. The only drawback being that the IVF center doesn't even deal with insurance, and bills directly to the fertility clinic (my RE's office), but I suppose that doesn't matter so much considering I don't even have any insurance coverage for IVF.
My clinics statistics are very good, comparable, and mostly better than the other, larger clinics in our area, I would presume because they are a little more involved with each patient and give more individualized care.
