UPDATE Sat afternoon: Is there an end anywhere in sight?

I guess it's that I'm not used to this- my last dr or his partner always did my sonograms, so they had an idea of what they were looking at and could kind of point out certain follicles from day to day and let me know how much they had grown since last time.

Every time I go for monitoring a different person has done my sonogram. Sometimes they find my ovaries, other times they can't find an ovary and guess, other times they find it but don't mention nearly the # of follicles that I see on the same screen, I feel like it's more like a spot check.

Anyway, today a nurse I've never met before did my sonogram. She counted almost double the amount of follicles that were mentioned yesterday morning on my right and half as many on my left. Yesterday my largest was an 18, and today my largest was a 17.5.
Chat Icon Chat Icon I know they take the average, but now I want to know where my 18 went- did she not see it somehow? Did it shrink (can it do that?)

I'm SO tired and SO confused and so frustrated right now... I just want to know there is an end in sight- sooner than later... and yes, I'm sure I sound like a big baby right now, but that's ok- I'm exhausted and was hoping for better news... I'll wait and see what the voicemail brings this afternoon, but yesterday I felt confident that I could possibly trigger tomorrow night- and today, not so much... Chat Icon Thanks for letting me vent. Chat Icon

Here are today's follicle sizes:
Right- 14, 13.5, 2-11.5s, 11, 2-10s, 2-9.5s, 9, 8.5, & smaller
Left- 17.5,12, 10, 9.5, & smaller

Update:
I just checked my voicemail- I'm continuing on my stimming protocol of 6 amps of menopur, 1 ganirelix and my dexamethasone- then returning back tomorrow morning.
How she phrased it at one point as she was repeating the instructions in the vmail was somthing about 'the dr wants you to continue stimming for one more night'--- so now I don't know what to think... do you think that means I'm triggering tomorrow? Not necessarily- b/c it could just mean stimm for (at least) one more night, right? I don't want to get my hopes up- and I HAVE to have DH take Tuesday off once we know if it is def that day... I guess the smart thing to do at this point is just give it another day and see what tomorrow's levels, sono and voicemail bring. Does anyone know what they're looking for follicle wise? Do they trigger after at least a certain # mature, w/ some more that could catch up - or do they base it off your estrodial, or a combo of the 2? Sorry for all the questions..,. They also forgot to leave my levels- so I guess I'll have to wait for the morning. Thanks again everyone Chat Icon I really don't know what I'd do w/o all of you. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Is there an end anywhere in sight?

You may still trigger tomorrow.
I know they have a couple of people doing sonos - I've only had two different - but I've always gone to the Melville office for monitoring so that may be why.
Either way, they are going to take the average and since they saw an 18 yesterday, they will take that into account.
Don't stress too much...you aren't that far off schedule and the most important thing is that you don't hyperstim....so far you are looking good in that regard. Not too many, but enough for a good retrieval.

Thanks Gerty. Chat Icon I am sure it's a combination of being overtired and all the meds that we've been pumping into my body, but I really hate how down I'm feeling today... I'm going to try to sleep it off and hopefully wake up with a better attitude! We've come this far and you're totally right- my #1 concern was hyperstimming and (knock on wood) so far they've controlled me nicely I think... Chat Icon Chat Icon

You're almost there - just a little while longer. It will all be worth it in the end!

Re: Is there an end anywhere in sight?

My first IVF I stimmed for a long time too, so I know as you get close to the end, it's so hard... I got tired of hearing, "just one more day" my last night of stims before I got the call to trigger, I was so done...as DH was doing my injections, all I could do was cry. I was so overtired from getting up at 5am for 5 mornings straight, working all day, the stress, etc....I had just had it.

I agree with Gerty, I do have a feeling you will trigger tomorrow.

Hang in there... the end result is in sight!!!!

Re: Is there an end anywhere in sight?

You've got lots and lots of follies brewing! We might actually have our ERs on the same day! I was in Melville this morning too...around 8. I had a few less measured on my right than on Thursday and she said they didn't "disappear". She was just measuring the few bigger ones. So don't worry, your 18 didn't evaporate or anything.

I'm going back in the morning for monitoring. I'm thinking I'll trigger tomorrow night...way cool if you did too. Good luck!

Thanks everyone Chat Icon Olga did my sono this morning- today was the first time I ever met her. She was good, she had no problem finding anything- I just noticed some of my follies from yesterday (especially the 18) she didn't mention today.... oh well, we'll see what tomorrow brings. I'm going to try for 8. It's so late now and I'm still wired (see my "stress" post). If I don't see you, good luck and hopefully you'll be trigger happy tomorrow night!

Jen - The RE always told the nurse the measurements, I would "try" to follow along, but it would get to hard to do that as I got further into my cycle. I would wait until my nurse called me with my instructions in the afternoon and ask her specifically what I had on each side.
