My night
Was a very small improvement last night...
There are just some things I cant figure out!
He went to bed @ 730... He fell asleep before his last bottle (thats what I get for keeping him up, I guess..) He woke @ 10:30... So I gave him that bottle he missed, and rocked with him, in his rocking chair...
He fell asleep in my arms... he nuzzled in my armpit.... When I felt he was out , I put him in his crib.... as soon I put him down... BING Eyes wide open...
Back into my arms....out cold... So I layed him in my arms in my bed.... Again...when I felt he was really asleep I laid him down in between DH and Me....he woke again...right away...but farting like crazy...
Needless to say... he slept in my arms all night...woke @ 1am to eat..and went right back to sleep.... (in my arms)
I def. think we are having some gas issues...Im linking it to cereal...because its never been an issue before...
Can cereal do this? Should I switch to rice instead of oatmeal? Do I need to give his belly some time to adjust?
This is just so hard

Re: My night
it probably is the cereal....
I know oatmeal has a decent amount of fiber in it, so that may be causing his gas issues.

Thats what the infant teacher @ my center said...she suggested switching to rice.. but Im scared he'll get constipated??
Do I make the switch? or give it more time?

Re: My night
Will he sleep in a bouncy seat instead of your arms all night? I am just asking becasue you really don't want to get into this habit of holding him all the time.
How long has he been on the oatmeal cereal? 2 days? I would give him another day and then try the rice cereal.

Re: My night
I would think that oatmeal would constipate him more than rice, because it's thicker. Maybe wait the oatmeal out a few more days and if it doesn't improve, try the rice.

Re: My night
i might have been doing things all wrong, but i started out with rice cereal and after a few days i rotated with rice, barley and oatmeal. maybe by experimenting you'll find one that agrees with ryan's little system better...

Re: My night
Marissa - give it some time. Joseph has been on oatmeal only for 5 weeks and, yes, the gas is more so than before, but it isn't interrupting his sleep anymore. I would give it a bit before changing again. His digestive system needs to get used to solids.

Re: My night
You could do rice with a few drops of prune juice or pear juice to help him clear it out. my neighbor does this.
Jack never had a problem he eats rice cereal and bananas all the time and still poops like a champ. If I even get the hint that Jack might be slightly backed up (only happened once and while visiting the inlaws so who knows what Grandma might have given him) is a 2oz bottle of water and that clears him right out.

why don't you try Barley...Bella wasn't a big fan of oatmeal so I tried the Barley because I refuse to try rice until I have too...it worked out great!
I agree..Jared hated oatmeal...he loves the barley. I refused to try the rice too..
