ugh....... anyone get very nervous about all of this?

DH and I watched a newborn care DVD... it showed just the basics (feeding, bathing, diapering, mom's recovery)

DH and I are wondering how we'll pull all of this off without our careers seriously being affected over the next several years (both of us have very demanding careers) if our careers suffer, it would be difficult to provide for Scone... such a catch-22.

We both always envisioned having 2-3 kids, but it's hitting us now that even 1 is such a super-duper responsibility and huge amount of work that we're wondering how we will cope and adapt how can we do everything for Scone yet maintain work and the basics at home?

anyone else having anxious moments like this?

I remember feeling that exact same way after going to a baby care class with DH for DD#1. It was completely overwhelming - we just didn't know how we were going to do it all without our lives being consumed by it.

But that's the thing...for a while, your lives ARE consumed by it - but it's a miracle, nothing more, nothing less. You will figure out routines and things will become second nature -

You will soon be in such a swing that you will forget what your life was before your precious child...

My DH and I both have our careers and they didn't suffer in anyway. Now we just have funnier stories to share at work!

You will be great parents...just remember that.

thanks so much for that perspective... deep down I guess I know we'll be ok... it's just that right now we can't even imagine a baby being in our super-quiet home...... and we can't imagine adapting to such an immense change.....

I guess we just have to have faith that it will work out and a new routine will develop........
