and so it begins........

i took Chewbacca to the vet on Sunday for a check up.
the vet said he was all good, breathing sounds good, etc....

and today, only 2 days later he has yellow mucus coming from his nose!

i'm guessing he is getting a cold.

i called and left a message to make another appointment.

i'm just bummed because i feel as if the vet shold have picked up on this. i dont mind being "inconvienenced" by any means, its just like "arent you a vet? why am i paying you for?" she was a new vet i think, i mean new to the office, ive never seen her before ever.

is it just me? i'm considering finding new office, i have a few backups, but decided to proceed with the same one i've been going to. am i totally off my rocker here?

Hey! You are definately not off your rocker! A similar thing happened to me, Bella had a cut in her ear that her normal vet didn't catch. After 3 days, it still wasn't getting any better, and I couldn't see it myself. I had to take her to another vet who found the cut and treated her for it. I was kinda upset because like you said, I don't care about the inconveinence, but I just wanted her to get better!! Anyway, that being said, I did give her normal vet the benefit of the doubt, we all have off days. I would say, give them one more shot and see how that goes? Not sure where you're located, but my best friend takes her dogs to Franklin Square Animal Hospital. GL!!!Chat Icon

Could it just be the dog wasn't symptomatic when you brought him to the vet?

I mean, yes, they're vets, but they're not psychics. Chat Icon He could have even picked something up at the vet's office that has a very short incubation period.

Same thing happened to me.. I bought my dog at 6mos old took her to the vet that day. Got a clean bill of health. The very next day I too her to meet my groomer (who I am friends with) She took my dog lifted up her ear stuck her nose in it and said "your ***** puppy has an ear infection whats wrong with you"!!!! In 2 seconds she found that!! I was so mad!!! I never went back to that Vet! When I took her to the new vet She was right my puppy had an ear infection!

I was thinking the same thing. It could have just been bad timing and Chewy didn't show any signs of a cold. He might have been incubating at that point.

If you're interested in a new vet, I have the name of one that my friend's sister uses. She has 2 EBD and has had them for about 10 years now. She's very pleased with this vet. The only thing is that they are located on the island so I don't know if you'd be interested in traveling out this way. I believe they're in Nassau county.

If you want the info just let me know.

Also germs do harbor for 14 days. The symptoms might just not have shown up yet.

Different illnesses have different incubation periods.

I'll call my friend and get the info. As soon as I get it, I'll FM you.

I'm glad to hear he's on the mend.
