Shots in the booty...
How much do they really hurt? And what did you do to alleviate the pain as much as possible...
We will be starting soon and those are the ones I am REALLY nervous and scared about!

Don't believe the hype. They don't hurt too much. Some women ice before, others prefer to massage a bit afterwards. Don't sweat it. I do all my injections IM from behind and it's not a problem whatsoever. Hang tough!

Honestly, the actual injection doesn't hurt at all. There aren't many nerve endings in your butt, so there's no pain with the injection.
It's the soreness later that is annoying.

Totally a piece of cake. I never used ice or anything and they hurt less than the shots in the belly.

I rub the site and then use a heating pad on the site for 5 minutes after. These shots are much better than the shots in the stomach!

I ice the area for 5+ mins first (I'm a baby   ) and it's not as bad as you'd think. Everyone is telling you the truth when they tell you the anxiety is the worst part
Just make sure you, or whoever does your shot pushes the skin apart- my DH didn't do that one night b/c he forgot and it really hurt when the medication went in - then 2 nights later (we alternate sides each night) it hurt just as much- I'm thinking b/c that area is black and blue now... but my other side has never hurt at all- as long as the needle goes in right and you push the skin apart first... HTH!

For me, they were a piece of cake ...there was honestly only 2x that I can really say I felt much of anything and was totally bearable...it does get a little more sore, the more shots you take, really just make sure you alternate injection spots...I never iced (with the progesterone the nurse told me not to because it makes it pool at the site) My DH always rubbed it in really good afterwards...Good Luck- its really a lot more intimidating then it looks !!!
