Personally speaking I would get the lap surgery. It really isn't that bad and it was so much easier than my HSG. I am not sure if you want more than two children but when DH had this discussion he wanted to try with the lap in hopes that if that was fixed we could possibly have more than one child as IVF would wipe us out with one child leaving little hope of trying again. I am glad I did the surgery, I got my periord within the month after surgery and got pregnant on my second medicated IUI. I know this is a hard decision and I wish you the best with whatever you choose.

I can understand this is a hard decision.
I'll share my story....
after my initial workup with RE he suggested a lap for possible mild- moderate endo. He felt that at the 2 year marks over 90% of couple were pregnant and it should have the lasting effect of reducing/eliminating mt pain. So i decided to have it done in sept with also the thought process that I don't want to say what if 2 years down the line. I had the surgery on Thursday and on monday was back to work. Not bad at all.
After surgery i was told to try naturally for 6 months ( people thought i was crazy but i did) then with no BFP went back to re did 2 clomid cycles then 2 injectables cycles and i currently am at my 2 year mark. i have been strongly suggested to do ivf however we have no coverage. We are currently praying about what is right for us.

I had endometriosis and had a 6cm endometrioma on my left ovary. When I first started going to my RE, he didn't want to do surgery first because when he did his own sono - the endometrioma wasn't visable. I had an HSG a couple of weeks before my first appt with him and the test came back clear. I did 2 medicated IUI's w/clomid and I never got pregnant. When I got my period after my second IUI, I had such excrutiating pain on my left ovary along with heavy bleeding that he recommended doing lapo. When he did the lapo, I had endometriosis in the pelvic area and also my bowels. The endometrioma was bigger than he expected because it was practically wrapped around my ovary. Luckily, I didn't lose that ovary, but some point of time, the endometrioma leaked and cause scar tissue on my left tube. He flushed it 3 times and to no avail, so I only have 1 functioning tube. Our original plan after lapo, was to go to IVF, but because of insurance issues, I had to do another IUI. This time we did the IUI w/injectables. I started with the injections after I got my first real period after lapo. By the grace of God, I got pregnant and I'm going on 14 weeks. I guess sometimes it better to have everything "cleaned out" and start fresh.
