Did DH go to breastfeeding class with you?
I am going to the Breastfeeding class at Southside today at 4.
DH is coming. I told him if no other DH's are there, he can leave (we live 4 blocks from the hospital) and come back and get me
I think he is a little intimidated!! lol

I am going to a BF class in 2 weeks and my DH is coming with me. They said they encourage DH's to come so hopefully he won't be the only one there.

I think they usually recommend DH going just in case you forget things. Let's face it, with all the things you need to remember, it is helpful if there is someone else saying, "Oh remember, they said to do this...."

My DH came with me, everyone told me that there would be other DH's there. Well it was a very small class, with only one other girl there, w/o her husband, but he really found it helpful and was glad he came.

Damn straight he did. If he is the breast-feeding supporter and the vaginal birth guru, then he better haul his sweet patootie with me to breast feeding AND childbirth classes. And he is.
He rather enjoyed the class that we took 2 days ago. To be honest, one of the first things they spoke to us about was "skin-to-skin" contact immediately after birth to assist in getting the child ready to feed. This included skin-to-skin with the father as well. They suggested that the father wear a button-down shirt to make this easier. Now had i gone home and told that to DH myself, I would have gotten one of these---> .
Frankly, I dont care how progressive a man is. Many of them don't like to hear things from their wives. But to hear information from a certified or licensed professional, can make a difference.

I think its important that he go so that 1. he can support you and 2. know enough to quiet the people that have opinions on what you should do so you don't have to put them in their place

DH absolutely came with me. It was very important for him to hear all the things he needed to do to support me while breastfeeding. Admittedly now that DD is 7 months old, he has slacked off on his responsibilities.

This is SOOO true Janine. When we brought  home I couldn't think straight for about a week. I was so thankful that Chris took those BF classes with me because when I was getting frustrated with the BF process, he would remind me about other positions to put baby in - and it WORKED! Love the football hold!!!! Totally recommend you ladies bring your DH's with you!
