How are your Pets when you get back
From vacation? DH and I are planning a trip for a week and fortunately, we have someone that is willing to take care of Bella while we are gone so we don't need to board her. Concern is, were your Pets the same when you got back? Did they resent you or was it like nothing ever happened?

Re: How are your Pets when you get back
DH and I went away for 16 days for our HM to Ireland last year. My mini-doxie, Leo, is VERY attached to me. He was running around, crying, yelping and peeing b/c he was so excited. He wouldn't stop licking my face for a few minutes. I love my baby... but he was staying with my brother, SIL and their 2 dogs so he wasn't lonely while we were gone.
Then a few days after that, DH, me and his 3 kids went on a Family HM upstate for 4 days and my aunt watched Leo at our house. He was more subdued when we came home but very happy to see us.
I noticed both times that he would jump up on me and cuddle more after we came home from both trips.

Re: How are your Pets when you get back
After a weekend away our cats get pi$$ed at us, but go back to normal within a day.
We went away for a month and my BIL stayed with our cats for that time. When we came back they weren't happy and were mad for a few days.

they say animals have no sense of time. Anytime we have had to leave sandy, she is super excited to see us when we get back and does not act strangly at all

Re: How are your Pets when you get back
We were gone for our wedding and HM for 3 weeks. At the time we only had one dog and one cat. Sara went to a dogsitter who had another greyhound. Sara could care less about us and was fine when we got back.
Figaro, on the other hand, had issues. I had a friend come by every day to feed him and play with him. She called me during the 3rd week b/c Figaro had stopped eating!!!! We called the vet and she said as long as he is drinking, not to worry. He was fine otherwise. When we got home, Figaro was fine and ate right away. I guess we are only allowed to leave him for 2 weeks at a time!

She is slightly more excited than when I come home from work. When I come home from work I feel like a celebrity, vacation is like royalty.

Re: How are your Pets when you get back
We've only left her once to go on vacation. My sister stayed at the house with her and she had diarrhea the whole time we were gone and was very "edgy". She was super excited when we got back and wouldn't leave us alone (more so than usual). When I was in the hospital for ten days, DH would go home and stay with her but he said she wasn't 100%...when I got home, she stayed in bed with me for days.

When we had a cat growing up, she was a little standoffish at first for a day or so. My dogs are always THRILLED to see us when we get back though!

I have a cat, but when we come home from being on vacation, she's all over me like white on rice for days.

Re: How are your Pets when you get back
Char cries when we come back after being gone for more than a few days. So, you can imagine how the crying was when we returned from our 18 day HM! She gets over it but is just so happy to see us and so overwhelmed that she will just start to CRY. It breaks my heart... I've been told by my IL's and parents who usually watch her that she is never really sad while we are gone so that is good.
After being on a few trips she knows that when those suitcases come out - we are leaving and she gets mopey while we pack.

My cat is the same way. She is extra clingy while I get ready to go away and then cries when I come home. That will last about an hour then she's fine.

Re: How are your Pets when you get back
As soon as we get home though, they are jumping and runninng in circles because they are sooooo happy.
The first time we went away (ever) Mercedes was 1 yrs old and she got a "stress pimple" and literally the day after we rushed her to er vet it was gone. She then chewed the corners of the stair carpeting (top and bottom) when we left her alone and went on vacation for the first time in our new house. Since then we got 2 more dogs and they have all been well behaved when we go away. I think the oldest was just bored when she did these things, now they love when we go away b/c they get away with everything when parents watch them.
Also, since being in the new house, we have the same family members stay with them so they dont mind as much. Good Luck evrything will be fine!
