Bleeding Last Night

Last night I started bleeding brown blood - quite a bit of it (not just spotting). I was so upset and just thinking it is only a matter of time b/f I lose this baby. I had a sonogram last Monday and I saw the h/b and measured at 6w4d. This morning I had an appt. to go in for bloodwork at the RE and I told the nurse about the bleeding. She said that I would have a sonogram also. So first the nurse did a speculum check to check for active bleeding and she said she did see some blood. By now I was freaking out!! Then she did the sonogram and I saw the h/b. What a relief!! I was measuring at 7w4d which is exactly right. She said that the area of blood is where the placenta meets the uterine wall. I'm not sure...is that considered placenta previa? I am going to talk to the dr. later today. I am still very nervous that this could get worse. I was told to take it easy today, which I am doing. Update: I talked to the RE and he said he looked over the sonogram results and he thought that everything was ok and not to worry about the bleeding. No restriction is needed on activity and the bloodwork was all good too. So it looks good! Chat Icon Next week is my appt. with obgyn.

Re: Bleeding Last Night

You may have whats called a sub-chorionic bleed ...they found mine at my very 1st sono at my RE's office and told me it was very small and to expect a little bleeding, but that they almost always resolve on their own - It is like a spot of blood on the outside of the placenta....Sure enough at about 9 weeks, I had some brown spotting for a day or 2 (and freaked) then a few days later it happened again ( and I freaked) and then I had a sono (vaginal) and the day after that I had some red blood (and really freaked)...All the while, the Dr. reassured me how normal it was and then at about 11 weeks it was totally gone and the bleed had totally resolved on the sonogram-I'm 13 weeks with a healthy lil one and now and its gone completely...The doctor said, it eventually it either works its way out of the body and thats the blood you see, or it gets reabsorbed by the body...I also asked if its the same as placenta previa and they said absolutely not- so hopefully your experience is the same as mine !Chat Icon

ETA- If this is what you have, both my RE and OB said it is extremely common Chat Icon

Re: Bleeding Last Night

My OB once told me that the sonogram always outweighs the bleeding. Meaning that if you see a heartbeat on the sonogram and the growth is where it should be, then don't worry about the bleeding. If there is a problem, the sonogram will show it. Good news for you!

Re: Bleeding Last Night

Oh I know how scary it is. I had bleeding on and off w/my 1st pregnancy and now I'm 6 weeks w/my 2nd and I had brown blood since my BFP and yesterday some red. Went the Dr. and we saw a heartbeat but its still sooo early. My Dr. said not to worry (even tho its soooo hard), but some people just experience a little bit of bleeding Chat Icon Chat Icon
