Does what you do now increase chance of GD
Just curious if what I am eating now, and how much im excercising now will have an impact on whether i will have Gestational diabetes. Im nervous about this i feel like this is something i can control and afraid im gonna mess up!

I'm not sure, but I ate candy and junk like crazy in the beginning, and I just passed my one hour.

I dont think so as I believe its all about how your body breaks down the sugar. So whether you eat alot or none depending on your body you may fails...

It just depends on your body...my dr said he has had very health conscious women get it...so it all depends on how your body breaks down sugar.
I have my 1 hour next week for no GD!

Re: Does what you do now increase chance of GD
No........it's hormonal and you have no control over whether or not you get GD. That's what the endocrinologist told DH and I yesterday as I totally failed my 1 hr. and now how to follow a special diet plan and test my blood 4X/day for the rest of my pregnancy. I was concerned that I did something wrong and this was my fault but they said no and I could not have prevented it. There was no way to know how my body would've reacted to the change in hormones but they say it's now easily controlled by diet so I hope that's true.

No and I had this confirmed both by my OB and a gestational diabetes specialist who is an endocrinologist. Its your body's reaction to the placenta/hormones.
