Has anyone been a bridesmaid less than 6 months after delivering?

This is far in advance, but I was just wondering how much of a pain sizing/fittings will be. I'm going to be a bridesmaid in SIL's wedding in May. Assuming all goes well, I will be 5 months post partum and will be BF (may not be exclusively BF at that point though). I assume I'll have to get measured for a dress when I'm 8-9 months pregnant. Has anyone had a similar experience? How did they estimate your measurements? Were fittings difficult? TIA.

Re: Has anyone been a bridesmaid less than 6 months after delivering?

I was a size 10-12 (depending on the dress) pre-pregnancy. I was in a wedding (MOHChat Icon ) 3 months PP and I was EBFing. I ordered a 14 and it fit. It fit perfectly actually. At 6 months PP, I tried it on and it was very loose on me.

So- I would likely order a size bigger than your pre-pregnancy size rather than attempting to get fitted when you are 8 months pregnant. You can always have the dress taken in. By 8 months pregnant you have an enormous amount of water weight that will NOT be there just days after giving birth.

No but I will be 6 months PP when I am MOH. I ordered the dress a size larger then I am now. I'm hoping to work my bootie off to have it TAKEN in by the time the wedding gets here. Chat Icon

Hi Brooke! I haven't gone through this but one of my BMs in my wedding had given birth 6 months before. We waited to fit her until right after she gave birth. So, the dress was a couple of sizes larger than her original size and as it got closer to the wedding they fitted the dress down. She was not back to her original size by the wedding (especially in the bust area) but it all worked out in the end.

I was just in a wedding a few weeks ago (4.5 months PP & EBF)--I ordered 2 sizes up and it was too big, but I had it taken in and it was fine! I can't remember if I ordered the dress right before I delivered or right after, but I gained 35lbs pregnant so I tried to take that into account too. GL!
ETA 1 size up probably would have fit perfectly

I wasn't but my moh was. She did a guess really - we saw how the other girls were measuring compared to their normal size and took a guess. I would guess bigger than smaller though. It all worked out.

Re: Has anyone been a bridesmaid less than 6 months after delivering?

I was supposed to get measured for my cousins wedding at 7 or 8 months preggo. Instead of having them "guesstimate" my size. One of the other bridesmaids was the same size as me prepregnancy. So i had them order the same size for me. I didn't have a problem fitting into it for the wedding, I probably still had 10lbs or so extra on me, but the skirt part of the dress flared out so it wasn't a problem.

The wedding was 3 months after i had DD

Re: Has anyone been a bridesmaid less than 6 months after delivering?

I will be 10 weeks PP when I am MOH in my sisters wedding. I am going to get measured now (I'm only 10 weeks and not really showing yet) and I plan on ordering one size up from there.

It took me 9 months to get back to my regular size after DD - but it was mostly in my bottom half, so I definitely plan on getting something A-line. This time around I am also being a lot more careful about what I am eating, since the DR doesn't want me to gain as much.

Re: Has anyone been a bridesmaid less than 6 months after delivering?

My sis had her son 3 months before my wedding.. fittings were horrible for her to be honest. I let her and my sil pick out the dresses that they would wear.. so i couldnt be blamed for what happens at the fitting. I know the semestress and the people who worked at the place were rude and abnoxious to my sister. The dress had a little flare (it was a two piece).. the top shouldnt have a flare.. so my sis asked for them to fix it.. and they were snotty and mummbled under there breath"who told you to have a baby soo close to a wedding"Chat Icon I would have lost it on that b!tch if i was her.. i wasnt there but i called and had a fit.

I ordered a dress when I was 5 weeks pregnant. We ordered the dress 2 sizes bigger. I will be 14 weeks pp and still have to loose 15 pounds to get where I was when measured and the dress is so large the whole dress had to be taken apart and re-done. I think they must have measured wrong to begin with. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Has anyone been a bridesmaid less than 6 months after delivering?

I was a bridesmaid 5 months post pardom. I called the place and they told me to come in 6 weeks AFTER I deliver so that measurements are more accurate. well the bride picked a discontinued dress and it was really hard to find my size, had to order 2 sizes bigger and pay out of my arse in alterations- more than what the dress costs.
this is only b/c she picked a discontinued style otherwise I would have had no problem.

I am going to be in my brother's wedding 6 weeks pp Chat Icon I got sized when I was 4 months pregnant and I was showing. I haven't gained too much (about 20lbs and I am 29 weeks) so I hope I don't gain too much.

I just pray I fit into the dress Chat Icon

Re: Has anyone been a bridesmaid less than 6 months after delivering?

I was in my sister's wedding when I was 7 wks PP. I was wearing a 10 pre-preg and I ordered a 16 (dress was by Nicole Miller). It fit me perfectly at that time.

I wore the dress to a wedding when I was 5 months PP also. It's an empire style. It still fit me on the top, but was much looser on the bottom.

I've been BFing for over a year now, and my breasts only just recently got a bit smaller. (I was a 36DD for most of the first year and now I am a 34DD.) So even as I've lost weight, I was still the same size around the bust line measurement.

I am going to be in my SIL's wedding in May too...Which will be 5 mos pp. I wanted to get fitted now, so at least I will be closer to my size, than if done later on.
