Re: Can not enough water cause cramping?

period type cramps?

I actually have the same thing going on! My Dr office was closed yesterday so I called the United Healthcare Maternity line (its a service my health insurance comp provides with nurses available)

She said it is most likely normal - just from ligaments and body parts adjusting , etc. But she said to make sure I am getting enough water and relax with my feet up as much as possible.

She also mentioned that I should mention this to my Dr since it could (but most likely not) be a sign of pre term labor (I am 33 weeks)

Re: Can not enough water cause cramping?

I have a little pain this morning on my lower left side, so I am going to try to amp up my water today since I know I didnt drink enough yesterday. I am not naturally a drinker, so trying to drink the recommended amount of water is like a 2nd job for me!

Dehydration can cause cramps, but your cramps could also be caused by typical first trimester stretching/growing. I had cramps on and off throughout my first trimester. I still have them now sometimes.

Not enough water definitely can cause cramping, as well as dehydration. Try to drink more, because alot of preggo girls I know have had to go to the hospital and get put on IV's to rehydrate, and that is no fun.
