Anyone Not Want To Reveal At Work?

I'm nearly 15 weeks and am developing a noticeable bulge.

A friend just told me not to tell until people start to ask. Is that good advice? I'm really torn about telling since I'm still a consultant. The company typically choose to hire consultants after 1 year of service. It's about 1 more month until the 1 year mark!

Should I wait?

Anyone not want to reveal at work yet?

Re: Anyone Not Want To Reveal At Work?

I only told my boss. Everyone else will have to find out on their own. I am not one to make announcements about my personal life. If anyone asks, then I won't deny it.

ETA: I am 16w3d & I told my boss @ 13w. I just started to show a little @ 15weeks.

Re: Anyone Not Want To Reveal At Work?

I told my boss at 9 weeks because I wanted her to know why I wasn't at my desk a whole lot- gotta love m/s!!
I only told 2 people at work after my ultrascreen at 13 weeks and they told the rest. Everyone told me that they had already guessed in their heads but at least I waited until I was comfortable with people knowing.

I told my boss at 12 weeks, and let him tell ppl and other ppl just find out from the grapevine, but I do think you should tell your boss if you haven't already

Re: Anyone Not Want To Reveal At Work?

I had wanted to wait a little while longer, but I told work at about 13 weeks. I felt they had a right to know that I would be out for a few months, especially since they were considering hiring another person. I was nervous about their reaction, but it has been very positive.

Are you showing yet? Do you think it's obvious you're pregnant? I think you should do whatever makes you comfortable. Chat Icon

Re: Anyone Not Want To Reveal At Work?

i told work early on (about 10-11 weeks) but my boss knew right away (about 5 weeks - she saw my running to the bathroom 80 times a day to pee Chat Icon)

i don't have job security to worry about, and we are a fairly close knit group, so i wasn't worried about something happening. i personally don't see anything wrong with waiting though, it's a very personal decision.

Re: Anyone Not Want To Reveal At Work?

I would think at 15 weeks you kind of need to tell them. Are you really concerned about them making a hiring decision based on your "condition"? That's VERY illegal which I know does not stop people from doing it but if you're with a reputable firm I'd try not to worry too much.

Re: Anyone Not Want To Reveal At Work?

I didnt want to tell work.. but had no choice. I deal with radiation and some tests we do can cause exposer to myself and had to avoid those,so had to tell them so they didnt think i was avoiding work.

i told my boss and everyone else at work later on the same day - i was 13 wks.

our dept. alone is about 20 people so i didnt see any reason not to tell everyone. plus i didnt want people to scratch their heads every time i walked by. i just wanted the information out there! Yes i am pregnant, no its not newlywed weight.

Re: Anyone Not Want To Reveal At Work?

I told my bosses first and then all my co-workers (we are all very close and friends outside of the workplace as well) at 12 weeks right after my ultrascreen. I could have waited longer - I didn't show till a few months after that but everyone was so happy and excited for me and I really thought I was going to explode from keeping this big "secret."
