I don't get it!!
Why do people flick their cigarette butts on the ground, when there is an ashtray available right next to them!!
It totally disgusts me!!!!

oh and I LOVE when they throw it out their car window, and the bud and all the cr@p comes flying towards my car and windshield!!!

I believe there is a law. If your car was made after a certain year (when they all had ashtrays) you can be fined. I know this because my mom actually got pulled over once for flicking a cigarette out her window...it happened to hit a cop car and needless to say, he was none too thrilled.

Im guilty of this, I am honest enough to admit it, and YES there is a fine or you can get a ticket, though most cops wont enforce it, but a friend of mine was pulled over by a state trooper for throwing a butt out her window.

I can tell you why, since I used to do it when I smoked. It's pretty obvious. Even as a smoker, no one wants nasty stale cigarettes and ashes sitting in their car. Plus, if you have your window open (which if you're smoking, you do), the ashes will fly all over the place.
Not saying it's right, just explaining why.

I take NO offense at all....Im in the wrong, I know it.
I think its convience mainly and because most people dont use their ashtrays in the car because if its new its better resale on the car
I dont smoke in my car anymore, I barely smoke at all so luckily you wont see me doing it anymore, but I can certaintly see from a non smoker point of view ow annoying it would be.
Funny thing is I NEVER litter , not even when I smoked would I throw the wrapper out the window, always put it in a bag, yet I would sometimes throw the butt out...so Theres no real reason

we use to work with a guy that did that all the time untill the owner of my company started throwing them in his car  he quickly started putting them in the ash tray that is right outside where everyone is too smoke

I never throw my cigarettes out the window, I have a bottle with some water in the car that I put the butts in and throw it out at the end of the day. My biggest fear is that I'll throw it out the window and it will fly back in and light the car on fire!! I hate it when I am on the parkway and someone throws it out and it hits my car...very rude.
