What kind of name is Nixzmary?
im not being rude or disrepsectful in any way. I was just wondering where the name Nixzmary comes from because her "mothers" (term used VERY loosely) name was also Nixzsomething. What is the whole "nixz" part? Or is it just a name?

I think she may have been Dominican...I don't know. I know she was of Hispanic descent.

Actually, I was wondering the same thing, but I didn't know if it was ok to bring it up right now, so I'm glad you asked.
ETA- I lookedit up & Nixzaliz, her mother's name, was on a list of Puerto Rican baby names.

It's extremely common in the Hispanic community (and I can speak for Puerto Ricans, since that's what I am) to name a child a name that "makes sense" in Spanish and also to combine names and "make them up" by mixing the mother and father's name or that of relatives. So while some of you may think it's weird, it's pretty common in Spanish. Also remember that when read in English it may lose its "meaning" since the pronunciation is completely different in Spanish (its intended language).
I'm glad some of you found the time to look it up though.
And I know it wasn't intended, but the topic offended me.

I know...I understand. It still made me uneasy, although it's not you, it's me, since that was my reaction from the beginning.

Both...I was sensitive to the "what kind" part. I think "what does X name mean" would have been much more tactful. I'm over it.
