Nah, it's probably against ebays TOS plus if I wanted a higher price so badly, I would just start the bidding higher or use the reserve price option.

I would never do it nor encourage it but my sister had a situation where she was selling a piece of her artwork and her boyfriend was bidding on it without her knowledge. When she found out she was P.O.'d - his intentions were good but she felt that it wasn't right to drive up the bidding like that.

Really? How did ebay know they were friends that were bidding?

Re: Have you ever or would you ever...

My brother last night was telling me that he wanted his girlfriend to to bid on his item to jack up the price. I told him that is not right and what comes around goes around. I was just wondering if people to that, because I have never sold things on ebay but I have bought things on ebay and he had me thinking.

I dont know exactly if they knew that they were friends but somehow they knew that they were just jacking each others auctions up.

Ebay watches auctions for this kind of stuff, plus a lot of other people do too. Most sellers will report the auction to Ebay if they suspect you are doing it.

A really obvious one would be three or four ID's with no purchases bidding on several items from the same seller.

One time I bid to win BILs auction b/c he realized after someone else had bid that the item was damaged. He wanted to remove it but couldn't, so he asked me to bid really high so I'd win and then he just paid the ebay fees. We didn't leave each other feedback.
