Weight Gain
I know that we are supposed to gain 25-35 pounds. I am just curious if there is a certain amount that you should gain by like the 1/2 way point?

Re: Weight Gain
So far I have gained about 20 pounds. I am at 30 weeks and 2 days. I know it is all baby weight and not food intake because #1) I don't eat all that much and #2)I had gastric bypass and don't absorb calories the way others do not to mention I just dont have the capacity for food as my stomach is small.
Keep in mind that the 25-35 pound range may be for women of average weight. I was always told that the lighter you are when you start your pregnancy, the more you will tend to gain. The heavier you are when you start, the less you should gain as there are more risks for GD and pre-eclampsia and possibly c-section births. But everyone is different.

Re: Weight Gain
I'm almost 19 weeks and have gained 4 pounds. But I am plus sized and really need to keep my gain between 15-25 instead of 25-35.

Re: Weight Gain
Thanks guys! I was just curious. I am 15 + weeks and have gained 4 pounds. I am average sized, not plus sized or super skinny. I just felt like by now I should have put on a few more pounds. I guess everyone is different!

Re: Weight Gain
This is what I heard:
Weight gain on a trimester basis:
* First trimester: 1 pound per month (4lb) in the first 12 weeks. * Second trimester: 1 pound per week for the next three months (12 - 14lb) in total. * Third trimester: around 1 pound per week (10lb) over the last 12 weeks.
Supposedly if you start of skinny your body needs to gain more weight and probably quicker so your baby doesn't end up underweight... that explains why at 14 weeks I've already gained 11 lbs. :P

I had this same concern b/c i had not gained any weight at 16 weeks. At 20, I was only up 5 pounds. My doctor said that he was more concerned with the size of the baby and how much he was growing, rather than my weight gain. He is measuring big already, so he is not concerned at all. Express your concerns to your doctor.

Re: Weight Gain
@ 12 weeks up nothing @16 weeks up 5 @20 weeks up 13 @ 24 weeks up 20 @ 28 weeks up 24
Months 4 and 5 seemed to be huge growth spurts or something.
