Armoire vs dresser?

If you were only going to get one piece for the room - an armoire (chiffarobe) or a dresser - which would it be and why? Which do you think is more practical?

We would be getting a changing table as well, so needing the top of the dresser is not an issue.

Our nursery is relatively small and while all the pieces would fit, we think it would look ridiculous. I'm just not sure which piece would be best for right now, as well as in the future.

Thanks for any opionions!

Re: Armoire vs dresser?

This is my dilema. I personally vote for a dresser or chest over an armoire because luckily our 2nd bedroom has a massive closet.

I tdepends if the bedroom has a closet or not. If it does, go with the dresser. If it does not, go with the armoir because they usually have 2 drawrs or so under the closet part. Or you could get both and scrap the changing tableChat Icon

I personally would go for the armoire. If you don't need the hanging room, you can remove the pole (with mine I can adjust the shelves in the area where the pole was to different heights and then use those to stack the clothes on). I can get A LOT in that armoire.

I went with the dresser because the nursery already has a pretty big closet. We are also hoping to move in the next year, hopefully sooner, so the smaller the furniture, the easier to move. ( wishful thinking)

Re: Armoire vs dresser?

we had a changing table, then when we had to return the crib we returned the changing table too. With my dd i only used the changing table for a few weeks. So when i bought the new crib, i got an Armoire too. Its great.. it has 2 big draws and 3 shelves and a bar to hang cloths.. Love it.. then when she gets older the back pops out and she can put a tv in there and use for the future. Im definatly happy i got the armoire.

Re: Armoire vs dresser?

we only got one piece in addition to the crib and we chose the combo dresser. i love armoires, especially for girls, but unless you have lots to hang, it's really not very practical.

The babies room does not have a closet, so we are going w/ the armoir. If we had the closet, we'd be doing a regular dresser.

Re: Armoire vs dresser?

We went with a dresser instead of the Armoire. We just felt that it had more storage space & would be more useful when the baby gets older.
