Dr.
Ok..so I just found out I was preg last week. Took my blood test last wednesday..my dr. confirmed it was positive. then he tells me he wants me to go for another blood test in two weeks (which would be next week at this point).
And then he wants to see me in July. I was speaking to another friend of mine and she asked why my dr. didn't want to see me right away?
Is this normal to take another blood test AND THEN have my first appnt?
Just a bit confused. Need your thoughts please.

Re: Dr.
its totally normal...they can't do an sono/ultrasound that early bc they wont see anything. I had two blood tests right away and my first real appt wasn't until 4 weeks later...

Re: Dr.
most drs. don't want to see you until you are 8 weeks. Fortunately, i was able to get an appt. right away to confirm my pregnancy and get an ultrsound on the same day- prob. only b/c he saw a lot of spotting...

Re: Dr.
Sounds totally normal - multiple blood tests are probably to confirm that your hormone levels are rising properly and then the doc not wanting to see you is because they probably want to do an ultrasound and want to see specific things. My doc didn't want to see me until after 8 weeks. By then they can see a lot, including the heartbeat.

Re: Dr.
I never had a blood test to confirm the pregnancy. I had my first appointment 2 weeks after I got my BFP. It was basically an annual exam and I was sent for bloodwork. Then, I had a sono 1.5-2 weeks after that.
Most doctors won't do a sono until at least 8+ weeks. If you've had an annual recently, there's probably not much of a reason to see the doctor before 8 weeks.

Re: Dr.
That sounds about right. Usually the doctor wants to see you when you are about 8 weeks along so he/she can do a sono. Before that, there isn't that much to see. I went for a few blood tests first and then had a sono at 7 weeks. Congratulations and good luck!!
