Re: Is it possible

Totally. I have an ex that was very controlling and mentally abusive. I'm TOTALLY over him, but don't want to hear about him and don't want him hearing about me.

Re: Is it possible

yes...I think you can be over them and feel that way.

But hopefully one day the hurt will be gone too!

Like I know it is over but the pain lingers is that normal Can a person move on even though the hurt is still there (yet no love)

most definitely!
That is totally normal
but yes, imo you can still feel the hurt even when you are over the person.

Re: Is it possible

Yes, I believe this is possible to be completely "over" someone yet prefer not to hear ANYTHING about them... hurt remains a LONG time after you are 'over' someone.. you cannot really control that sometimes.

One of my ex's in particular - I really hope I never hear his name spoken again or hear any news about him again - ever. He's a person I just wish could be erased from my memory entirely.. While I dont "hate" him anymore, I really just rather not even waste a moments precious time thinking about him or hearing about his whereabouts currently

When you've loved someone ... you cannot really just turn on/off your emotions about them automatically. The feelings might not be the same (you aren't in "love" w/them anymore) but the memories stay with you for a loong time to follow... so its normal that you feel the way you do, and would just rather not hear ANYTING about that person as you try to heal and move forward!

Just know that in time, those feeling of hurt DO fade!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

edited to add: and YES, you might harbour a bit of hurt with you for some time to come.. but YOU can and you WILL move on!!

Re: Is it possible

YUP...i do.
But that is different for every person.
Only you know what you feel and how you are dealing.

I was able to move on from my first ex. But it took me a while to forgive and let go of the hurt and anger....

Re: Is it possible

I have a funny story about this. When I was 16 I met this 19 yr old guy who had a motorcycle, lived in his own place etc. Myt parents were not happy about it so we used to hid my car behind his house so they wouldn't see it but they would come knock on the door--lots of drama. I really liked this guy but I guess he got sick of the drama so he started dating some girl that worked in a deli and blew me off. I spoke to him on and off but lost touch. Fast Forward to my wedding day! We get back to the hotel we are staying at and go to the bar with all our friends. I am still in my wedding dress. Well guess whos there with another wedding..Mr Motorcycle!! I was never so happy in my life--I looked pretty hot, had a sparkly new ring and my handsome husband by my side...It was one of the greatest moments. So I think yes you can get over the hurt and not have feelings as time goes on and if you have some good situational revengeChat Icon
