How much is too much ($$$) for a....
birthday dinner? It's a big one....big 30!
Is a price fix dinner at $50/head too much? Includes 1 glass of wine, app, and entres.
It wasn't supposed to be price fix but now that there is more than 15 people the restaurant is making us do it this way. Is this unreasonable...I feel it is about 10-20 more than should be about...but it's a cool, trendy place in NYC.
Your thoughts?

I think it sounds a bit high if you only get one glass of wine, app and entree no dessert.
BUT it depends on a few things - 1) what restaurant is this? a top NYC restaurant can easily demand this price 2) what are the app and entrees and wine are they offering.
Another thing to consider what will you do if people want more than one drink
A glass of wine in the city can easily run $10-12 in NYC restaurant.
Does this price include tax and gratutity that would also make a difference.

It doesn't sound bad to me especially since DH and I went out to dinner with another couple and we only had entrees, a bottle of wine and a few other drinks and the bill was $260 before tip.

For a cool trendy place in Mnahattan, that sounds about right when a dinner for two I imagine would typically run $150-200 (correct?).

with one glass of wine that is pretty high.
AT La Melas in Little Italy you can do $50 person including tip for app, pasta course, meat course, dessert & all the wine you can drink- but of course it isn't trendy place.
Ask the trendy place if you can bring your own wine in, and if you can what the corking fee would be- it might turn out to be cheaper.

If it is for High Line -- that is a lot of $. I think we had 4 people there and for apps/drinks/dinner our bill was about $120 (not including the tip).
ETA: However, if you are all in the private room upstairs, then no, that is not too much b/c you are in a private room.
