Probably a really dumb question....
I am only 5 weeks pregnant and always thought the approximate time for the baby to born is after 9 months from the beginning of your last period...which would be 36 weeks, right??? or wrong? So confused
Only cause I've seen girls say they are 37 weeks+...are they just late or am I calculating wrong?? Which is very possible since my simple math is horrible...raised on a calculator Thanks for making me smarter with your answers.

Re: Probably a really dumb question....
everyone has lied to us all this time!!!!! It's 40 weeks from the first day of your last period, which if you do the math is actually longer than 9 months (10 lunar months at 4 weeks each). The first two weeks (between period and ovulation) you are not actually pregnant, but because many women don't really know when they ovulate they use the LMP as the guideline. It's very confusing! To get your due date, you would count 40 weeks from the first day of your last period.
Here is a link that Goldi posted that I find helpful

Re: Probably a really dumb question....
Thank you so much katie!! I really thought all of a sudden, that because I was pregnant, I lost my ability to count..that makes a lot more sense now! And all this time I thought it was only 36 weeks...now I have to add on another 4 until I see my little pumpkin!! Not good news for my constant impatience! But atleast now I won't look like a dumb a%s Thanks so much again!
