Who is planning on hiring a baby nurse?
My friends have done it and it has made getting baby on a schedule much easier, and it's not as frightening to be home those first few days. I am 100% for it.
So, my question is-- since I haven't come out yet to my friends to ask them-- when do you "book them"? I know good baby nurses are way in demand, so they are hard to get.

Re: Who is planning on hiring a baby nurse?
We had a baby nurse, and if you can do it, I absolutely recommend getting one!
We booked ours through a recommendation of friends. Our nurse was great. We originally were supposed to have her for 2 weeks, but ended up extending it to 3 weeks.
It made the first few weeks home much more manageable. Also, as first time parents, she taught us alot - how to give DD a bath, how to tell if DD was hungry, cleaning the belly button area, etc.
ETA: We booked her early. By the time I was about 25 or 26 weeks.

Does a baby nurse stay with you full time, or just for a shift during the day?

They stay with you.
Ok, so I don't have to book someone NOW!

Re: Who is planning on hiring a baby nurse?
Yeah, good ones go. I booked mine the second the test came up positive. LOL!
I hired my baby nurse with my second dd for 6 weeks. With my first dd, I had one for 2 weeks.
I loved loved loved the one I had with my second. She was so patient and warm and really helped dd sleep through the night and get us all on a routine. She came on a recommendation of several of my friends and I knew she was in demand. There is 24 hour a day, or day or night baby nursing out there. Good luck!

Ok-- now you are making me anxious!
I think I am just going to have to wait until 12 weeks though when I start coming out.

We are and we're going through recommendations of friends that have used one. I'm just 12.5 weeks and haven't booked one, but will in the next few weeks hopefully....

Re: Who is planning on hiring a baby nurse?
I didn't mean to make you anxious. Sorry about that. Maybe you could just call and interview a few baby nurses by phone. When I booked Angie, I told her not to tell any of my friends who had used her that I was pg- she is a professional after all. She listened, thankfully.
