How early in your pregnancy do you have to arrange for Viacord to collect the cord blood? Is this something I need to make a decision really soon about? I'm 7w0d right now...

well, in the case of CBR, I called them up and registered over the phone, and they mailed the collection kit to us. It arrived within a week. Some places have discounts if you register 'early'... don't recall what 'early' is, something like prior to 32 weeks.
I presume viacord is similar with its timing and offers... so you have plenty of time!

I waited until the beginning of my 7th month to call them and set up everything. It seemed like a good time because that's when I was setting up my Lamaze classes and hospital tour. Viacord took my credit card number, which will not be charged until they have collected the cord blood, sent out the collection kit to take to the hospital, and a package of forms to fill out. They followed up with me a few weeks ago just to make sure I have everything. The whole thing was pretty easy, now I just have to remember to pack it in my hospital bag.
