The world's dumbest question - need help from the PG experts!

I am embarrassed to even ask this, but here goes - when do you start counting to know how many weeks PG you are? Let's say you BD and fertilization happens during the 2ww, and then you test before AF is due and get a BFP. Are you 2 weeks PG?

I can't believe how dumb I am sometimes Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Thanks!!

Nope, 4 weeks PG. Your pregnancy starts with your LMP Chat Icon It's kinda confusing so not a dumb question at all!!

You start counting from your last menstrual period started. So even though you weren't pg for the first two weeks it still counts as part of your weeks pg count.

I think of it this way.. I am so many weeks pg and than there is a fetal age which is two weeks less your weeks pg..

Here is a pg calculator:

I'm going to add to the confusion...

generally, you begin counting from your LMP, so when you get your BFP, you are about 4 weeks pregnant....

HOWEVER, some med websites count from the estimated date of fertilization...

so I am either 23 or 21 weeks, depending upon whom you ask... and pregnancy lasts either 40 weeks or 38.......

not stupid at all - it's confusing! the girls above have it right. usually by the time you take a HPT you are about 4 weeks pregnant (even though you've only actually been pregnant for two weeks)

But if you have a long cycle (like me) then you should just count 2 weeks before AF was due. I got my LMP on 2/12 but for counting purposed it's counted at 2/20 because I had a long cycle. The calculator should be able to help you.

It's Definitely confusing!!
