No Dial Tone on Phone?
I currently have AT&T Callvantage for my phone service. The modem is working but all my phones in the house have no dial tone. The line is open as you can hear something.
I was wondering if anyone ever had this happen and what do I do? I don't want to have to call them to come by but I don't know if I have any other choice.

this sometimes happens with my optimum voice phone service....shut off your modem and then put it back on....sometimes this works
but sometimes it doesnt

No, I have done that a ton of times. When the modem resets, the phone actually rings. There is just no dial tone.

is there a wire loose somewhere? i know we unplug the back of our phone than plug it back in sometimes that helps. a wire can get loose sometimes I am always telling dh to make sure the phone wire is plugged back in the back of the phone tight enough!

I'll have to check that but I don't know why all the phones would be out then.
