Jewish Girls...
Isn't it traditional to not tell people about the pregnancy until the second trimester?
I am really nervous to tell people-- but I feel like we should share it with our parents and siblings shortly. I also have some close friends who knew what I was going through to get pregnant and are starting to ask questions.
I guess my question is-- when did you tell people? Did you wait until the second trimester, or did you start telling people close to you earlier?

Re: Jewish Girls...
well, when you say "people", or, when I say "people", I mean people outside of the family
I told my family right away, everyone else we'll tell after 12 weeks

Re: Jewish Girls...
It isnt tradition. It is superstition.
There are no true Halakic laws that say you can't do anything while you are PG.

Re: Jewish Girls...
ok-- thanks... I know it's a personal decision, but was just curious of what other people did-- and if in fact, it was a tradition. Guess not.
thanks for your responses!

Re: Jewish Girls...
i somewhat disagree i do think that it is "traditional" not to tell people until 12 weeks; immediate family excluded
it is not however, "religious belief"

Re: Jewish Girls...
Ill be honest with you. There are so many things that have been accepted as common practice in Judaism that are just not true. I was told by many people that I couldnt do many things because I was PG. Well I went to a very conservative Rabbi and he basically told me that much of it was in fact superstition. I was also told that I couldnt do certain things because of the tribe I belong to. Also false. If you are truly concerned with sticking to the faith on your level of comfort, I would suggest asking a Rabbi.
