Having some anxiety about the baby's room..

DH and I have talked about getting the room painted and getting the new carpet for weeks. But still, nothing! We haven't even started on it! And, we haven't even ordered the furniture! I tell this to DH and he tells me that we "have time" which I don't believe. I want to get this stuff taken care of b/c it is making me so anxious! Anyone else feel this way?

DH and I were the same way
The room is finally painted now and we ordered carpet this weekend - and its on backorder for 2 weeks

Be careful with the furniture
Our parents ordered ours and were told it could take up to 11 weeks! That is July 31st and I am due August 1st!!!

Ugh, why do men do these things! My DH did the SAME thing to me!! They seem to think that there is time for all of this and I think they don't think about it the way we do since we are the ones carrying the baby and its a constant 24/7 reminder all the things we need to do to prepare for baby.

Yes!! I went to pick out the furniture in mid april. My mom and sister told me to wait ecuase they "might" want to buy some of it... 1 1/2 later it is still sitting on my registry and I wanted to have everything done by August so I could just relax for my 9th month!

Do you plan on having DS in his room right away? If not, I wouldn't worry about it - I am still doing a lot of Ryan's room now (decor). But, I would order the furniture b/c sometimes you never know how long it'll take - I ordered from BBB in mid-November and the dresser came before Christmas but I didn't get the crib until after Ryan was born in late March!

Re: Having some anxiety about the baby's room..

We ordered the furniture last month and it will be in storage until we bring her home. Other than that, we have done nothing. We may or may not be able to paint (because we rent). The closet in here is stacked way high and there is furniture that has to be tossed. I want this room empty by July. I know it won't be done.

We want the baby in her own room from day one - its our choice - but if it is going to happen, we need to get our arses moving.

If it is any consolation, I had the "Im not ready" meltdown the other night. DH promised it would get done. But its like being one man down because I am pretty limited in the physical things I can do right now.

Re: Having some anxiety about the baby's room..

I am due in JULY and am FREAKING out as well!! We are moving our bedroom upstairs and turning our room into the baby's room... NOTHING is done for us to move our room upstairs- we have to totally fix the floor up their and re-insulate- DH thinks there is plenty of time Chat Icon

Finally my MIL put her foot down and said we have to order the furniture- so we did that yesterday- it makes me feel a little better, but when it gets here there will be no place for it to go yet... and now that I am in the thrid trimester, I feel like everyday it is harder and harder for me to do things to help get the house ready- im going nuts over here too!

We BOUGHT the furniture fro BRU and PAINTED the nursery on Sunday March 11 - I was 37 weeks and 4 days pregnant. We finished putting it all together and went to bed at 11:30 that night. Two hours later I was in labor and at 6:35 am Chat Icon was here - 7 HOURS AFTER WE PUT TOGETHER HIS NURSERY! I thought we had "plenty" of time too.... HA!!! Tell your DH story!!! Chat Icon

We have a small house, so we plan on putting Chat Icon in his crib from the beginning. So, we need to order the furniture asap!

Re: Having some anxiety about the baby's room..

I've been super organized in getting everything ready for the baby....we painted her room two weeks ago, and her furniture already came in! (We thought it would take a while)
So now all I have to do is decorate....which I'll do this summer.
But actually DH is just as excited to do things as I am...we got our stroller and carseat yesterday and he put everything together, trying to figure out how everything works.
